Hey!
So I want to make a cake this weekend. I want to do chocolate cake with a chocolate mousse filling. Then maybe a vanilla frosting or icing with a chocolate ganache over it. What would you recommend for frosting/icing? I would love to hear what you think. I have recipes for everything except icing...thanks!
Also it may take me a while to get back to check...this baby is cranky today!
Re: boston baker
Exciting! Sounds like a delicious cake.
For chocolate cake, I like the recipe on the back of the box of Hershey's cocoa powder. It's pretty easy and always comes out moist and chocolatey. For the frosting, I'd use the recipe on the Domino confectioner's sugar box. It's pretty much just butter, sugar, milk, and vanilla. Easy, sweet, and good with chocolate cake.
I don't think I've ever made a mousse before, so I am no help to you there. Ganache I kind of eyeball and use a different recipe each time, but I generally like to make it with dark chocolate and half & half in a double boiler.
Let me know if you have any more questions! I love cake.
