Mild panic - have nothing ready. ;)

I have been so focused on other things with DS, and the holidays, etc., etc. - I have done almost nothing to prepare for DD, who's due in 5-6 weeks.  We have a stroller in the closet, and a few items of clothing, and that's it.  I just haven't had time to get to anything else.

It'll all be fine, right?  I mean, as long as we have somewhere for her to sleep?  ;)

Yep, it will all be fine :)  I remember freaking out that I had nothing ready for dd and honestly needed so little the first few weeks, it wasn't a problem.  Good luck, if I were you I would just rest up! :)

  • Totally fine. Somewhere to sleep, something to wear, diapers & food. Newborns are pretty accommodating :).

It will get easier after the holidays!!

  • My kid is also due in 5 weeks, and the nursery is an utter disaster area right now.  I haven't washed a single article of clothing.

But... I have 1 box of diapers, and a crib with a clean sheet on it.  So I'm OK with that.  Oh, and I hope my boobies work for BF'ing, 'cause I have no clean bottles and no formula.

Maybe the nesting bug will infect us both soon and we can do laundry together lol

Seriously!  OK, I feel way better.  ;)  I know I have clothes (mostly from DS), and I can buy diapers, and everything else will fall into place, hopefully.

  • The only other thing I'd do is pack a bag (it might be early, but you never know) for the hospital.

  • The only other thing would be a car seat.

  • I feel like I am in the same boat as you, expect I am due in two week and will be induced next Thursday the 22nd.  We have diapers, clothes, car seat, and stroller ready, but I feel like we are missing stuff.  Her room isn't done and there are some things I would like to get in order before she comes, but I am not sure we will get it done.   Eek!!  I am really starting to stress...I don't even have a bag packed!

  • It will be fine.  I didn't do much to get ready for DS until a few weeks before he came.  We still don't have the crib up and didn't set the PNP bassinette up until we got home with him at 3:30 in the morning.  So far he's doing good despite the lack of preparation on our part. :)

  • I think these panics come and go throughout pregnancy but it all works out! I had a mild panic this morning too that I am almost "half baked" and I don't even know what I need to do. There really is just so much less to do to prep for second kiddos.

How are you almost 1/2 way there?  That's total craziness!  Are you going to leave the gender a surprise this time too?

Yes, we are going to be surprised again. And the baby will eventually share a room with Daliah so we don't have a nursery to prep.

Did you end up picking a stroller??

  • Yep - we ended up with a city elite, and I'll probably get the chicco version of the snugrider just for the daycare in and out.  I really, really love the city elite.  :)
