Beagle

Love your new avatar.  Since you are my fellow beagle lover, I thought I would post a pic of my family's beagle since I think I ifnally figured out how to do it. He is almost 4.  Look at the bandana he is wearing.  I can't wait until I get my own beagle someday.

  • Squee!! I love him! And his bandana!

Sadly, DH doesn't want a beagle.  I'm still working on him though.

  • I realized after I posted I forgot to mention how adorable the kitties look in their sombreros.

DH wants another pit bull or some other kind of large dog which will not work in our little house.  But I think he is warming up to having a beagle.

Can you guess who bought him that bandana?  He has a Peanuts themed one for just about every holiday, then he dons a Phillies one during baseball season.

We adopted our Beagle 2 years ago from this rescue. http://www.cascaderescue.org/avail_east.html

They adopt out beagles who spent their early life as clinical research laboratory dogs. If the dogs are not picked up by places like this rescue, they're just killed after the labs are done with them. We've had our Beagle, Leroy, for 2 years now and he is awesome. He doesn't glow in the dark but he does have a badass ear tattoo (his identification #) from when he was in the lab. He's great with our other dog who we had before we rescued him and he's great with our kids. I highly recommend this rescue!

Thank you! I know when we finally get a dog, it will be a rescue, and an adult.  Neither of us have ever owned a dog, so we don't want a puppy to start out with.

  • Thanks Heather!  I would love to adopt a beagle from a rescue, so I will keep that it mind for when we are ready.

Leroy came potty trained and didn't chew on everything like puppies do. My husband really wanted a beagle puppy because he grew up with beagles his entire life but when I asked him if he was going to take the puppy outside at 11,1,3, and 5:00 in the morning, he changed his mind quick. I told him I wasn't taking a puppy outside all night so it's either an adult or you're doing it. I can't handle another puppy.  Puppies are worse than babies, IMO.
