I know you like hearing about my crazy students from time to time, I have 2 stories for your enjoyment.
I walk into my ballet class yesterday to find the kids especially talkative. I tell them to quiet down & that I'm ready to start. Student tells me to hang on & puts her finger up, telling me to wait. This is a class of early middle-schoolers, BTW. Oh my, I almost list it. I said 'Student. Did you just tell me to wait?' Student says 'yeah, hang on a minute'. I couldn't believe this child. She had no idea how rude she was being.
Student #2- different class. This kid is in 8th grade. The whole class is whining about something I asked them to do. I said 'Geez girls, you are awful whiney today.' Student says 'yeah, that's our generation, get used to it'. WTF?
Re: A student comment
Student #2 is usually well mannered. I'll give her another chance.
I'm sure it must be frustrating. In a way, you have to treat them as your "customers" and so you want your students and their parents to be happy. On the other hand, you shouldn't have to deal with b*llshit that distracts from the job you're there to do.
This sounds exactly like my younger sister. She turns 14 in February, and she is a smart ass from hell.
UGH! Did you say anything to her?
