Re: NEWS: My next IN destination is...
We got the dinkest limes at Woolies. I can't get over the crazy price of it. Plus coming from Houston where they are 10 for $1.00. I tell some of my friends and family what we pay for Bananas and they about hit the floor.
Oh yeah. I love the days that a head of lettuce is $4.98. But then the next week it's back down to $2.98 or less and then it bounces back up again. Fresh fruits and veggies are purchased if I happen to hit the store on a "cheap day".

Limes are expensive because they're not used much. No Mexican food market. You should plant a lime tree.
I thought she was saying Kmart was the more upmarket one in Australia.
What sort of suburb do you live in? Kmart in Australia is normally exactly on a level socioeconomically with Target. Compared to the US where the clientele in Kmart if very VERY different to Target, and they're in different parts of town. Neither Target or Kmart are exactly nice, but neither are on the level of US Kmart. That would be more Best and Less or Big W (although the Big W nearest my parents house has gone upmarket in the last ten years or so). That's why it's always puzzled me that Kmart and Target are both owned by Coles-Myer, you'd think they'd differentiate them more. I'd say Myers is closer to US Target level quality wise.
I remember limes being expensive in Australia. However, I don't think it's because of no Mexican food market. Limes are also used in Asian cooking and there is a big market for that there...
I have been two 2 k-marts
one down by Batemans Bay & one in Warriewood (northern beaches)
both were the same - VERY low market, fine for buying basics like chepa kitchenwear or socks, but I wouldn't buy anything nice there. I go there to get the cheapest prices on plastic toys though - good & cheap there. I find the clientel to be similar to America - low market.
Yea I do agree though that maybe Best & Less is more similart to American k-mart- but I'd say k-mart here is BARELY nicer.
I'd have to say Myers is nicer than American target - but yea closer to the mark for sure.
Basically Rita - David Jones is the top departments store, Myers is next - and both are really nice. You also have target & Big W which are quite similar, then you have k-mart. Lots of options really - which is a good thing - you'll work out which you like the best
Myers has a young range which comes from London & is very 'top shop' which I love, and I just found they have free shipping!!! I ordered a dress & it got to me in 3 days - awesome
