Update on Joshua
We went to the ENT this morning. They were going to run a few hearing tests. The first measured eardrum vibrations (think). It worked just fine on the right but he couldn't get a reading on the right side. He said there was a lot of wax and he wanted the doctor to clean him out before they did the tests.
We saw the doctor and talked about history. Then he started cleaning out J's ear. Then he got out the vacuum. I have never been so grossed out.
We went back to the hearing test. Started with the ear drum. Left side was perfect, the right was still causing trouble. Finally got a reading, but it showed no response. Then we went into a sound proof booth. It was sad watching J not hear.
For the next week I am supposed to clean his ears out and let the current ear infection clear up. We go back next Thursday to retest.

That is good news!
Mathis had 100% hearing loss in one ear and 80% loss in the other when we had him tested. This is part of why we opted for tubes. A year later, he is good as gold.

Poor litle guy. I watched my sister go through this with my niece. She has had tubes put in 3 times. Her hearing is so much better with them and they have really helped with the infections. Praying things get better for him. Hang in there!
ditto! that vacuum is grossly fascinating isn't it? I couldn't imagine whose job it is to empty it out.
