We are hosting Christmas for the first time this year and will have about 12 guests. My family typically gets together around 2:00 and has finger foods that everyone grazes on into the evening. It is a very casual get together.
What do you think of this menu?
Hot ham and cheese appetizer sandwiches
Cocktail meatballs
Beef and asparagus bundles (beef, cheese and asparagus wrapped in lettuce)
Veggies with ranch dip
Artichoke dip with crackers
Boiled peanut hummus with pita chips
My mom always makes some type of impressive cake for dessert, and I still need to figure out one other dessert to make.
Thoughts?
Re: Christmas menu help
I feel like it's missing something, but I can't fully figure it out. Maybe some sort of starchy bite? potato cups or tortellini skewers. I might also swap out the artichoke dip for cheese plate with sausage. It seems like a lot of dips, but it's really not. Hmm.
Holidays also mean shrimp cocktail to me.
I'm also with 6 that there's something I can't put my finger on. (So it's certainly not a big deal, whatever it is :P) Maybe add stuffed mushrooms or mini quiches or some other frozen starchy/vegetably app.
For dessert, shortbread tarts with cream filling? Pear, apple, cranberry fruit crisp?
