What are you giving for the holidays?
We've had a few posts about what WE want... What are you giving your SO, kids, relatives, friends?
*****
Pretty much finished. I love Christmas shopping, but I need inspiration for a gift for my SIL.
I got H two sweaters and two dress shirts and a few smaller items for his stocking. The shirts were a great deal from Kenzo as the store here is closing! Woo Hoo!
My brother a sweater and a poker set.
For M, we got a playdoh set, construction truck set, some playmobiles, a scooter and a few other toy sets that I can't remember.
Re: What are you giving for the holidays?
My family doesn't give Christmas gifts to each other, so I only have to worry about birthday presents for my parents.
DH -- tickets to Spicks & Specks Live and a weekend in Melbourne at a posh hotel and funky socks in his stocking
MIL -- a Connemara marble pendant, and a book band penholding bookmark in her stocking
FIL -- a Cooperstown Classic replica Minnesota Twins Kirby Puckett jersey and a carved Indian elephant in his stocking
Cousins' children -- $25 each to their parents for whatever they need most
BFF's daughter -- $25 for whatever she needs most
H is in charge of gifts for the kids.
For H, I have no real idea. He is getting a fishing guide, a new BBQ tool set and I was going to get him a nice water-proof (ish) phone, but his company got him one today. So now I am at a loss for his "big gift".
We did cut down this year. For DH's family, we know draw names so we just have SIL 1 and SIL 2. I have been done for a few weeks now. :-)
My parents -- New laptop to share (with siblings), dead sea skin products for my mom, Christmas ornaments
My sister -- Clothes and dead sea skin products
My brother and new wife -- Smart Couple Finish Rich and $100 ( they need money and all the help they can get.
My two Aunts - Christmas ornaments from the Holy Land and dead sea skin products
MIL - Walking sweater and Christmas oraments from the Holy Land and Dead Sea products
FIL - Coin from the time period of ancient Constaine (sp?)
SIlL 1 - Crossfit sweatshirt
SIL 2 - Slippers from the german Christmas market
Nephews - Easel with painting and drawing supplies
BFF - necklace and a scarf
Grandma - cross from the Holy Land
Plus a few cat toys and dog treats
Yes, I am bored at work!
Plus Operation Christmas Shoe box for four kids in Africa.
We're also going easy this year because of all the baby stuff we need to buy. H is taking care of his parents and sister.
H- A pair of trousers from Banana Republic, River Cottage Veg cookbook, and a new dad book. I might also get us tickets to a Christmas Panto depending on the price.
Mom - French press coffee maker
Brother and SIL - Don't know, but they like to have games around the house so I was thinking of getting them a dominoes type game called Chicken Foot.
Sister- Lightweight scarf
Brother and SIL-gift certificate for a professional photo session with my nephew
Nephew-snowman making kit (has hat, plastic buttons, felt scarf, etc) and some other stuff
Parents-thinking about doing an activity for everyone (me, parents, brother, SIL, nephew) like bowling. I'm living at home to save money so mom and dad will be annoyed if I spend a lot on them.
BFF's son-got him a Jelly Cats pillow pet (they're nicer than the actual pillow pets that they sell at malls).
DH and I are giving each other a freeview+ box, so we can finally record telly again
We're giving W Cars 2 on dvd, a roundhouse for his wooden train tracks, a car garage thing in a tire (don't ask, but it's meant fo rour travelling xmas), some books and puzzles and a few odd cars and things.
We're giving M a few bath toys, a toy dolls set thing (Happy Land), and a ball stacking tower thing. And some wooden puzzles that were a bargain at a charity shop.
Everything else is small and unexciting! :P
Since we can't go home for Christmas this year and my BIL is getting married over Hanukkah in Israel, we aren't really celebrating this year. I think my parents may come up the day after Christmas to exchange gifts so I've just bought small things for them this year.
Mom: Willow Tree grandmother statue (she collects them)/ new grandma mug and starbucks card/ Alabama/Auburn house divided wreath
Stepdad: Funny new grandpa sign for the house/ gift certificate to teacher's store/ Alabama/Auburn house divided wreath
Dad: Grandpa and Me frame/ hunting stuff hubby picked out
Stepmom: personalized brag book/ Mother of the Bride bag/ Grandma picture frame
Brother: Gift cards (that is what he asked for)
Sister: Bridal makeup case and robe with new monogram/ Juicy Couture jewelry
DH: slippers/ grill tool set/ robe/ hunting stuff/ new daddy photo frame
My Israel Blog!
DH: Digital camera, memory card, and camera to computer cable. BabyD is giving him a pair of silver cufflinks and a new water bottle for running.
The girls: Silver necklaces with their names in arabic.
The boys: Silver cufflinks with their initials, or for one who would never wear those a tie clip with their name in arabic.
Each family is also getting a Bahrain Starbucks mug.
There were some miscelaneous gifts for different relatives to create some variation. Locally made paper mache ornaments, little things specific to their personalities, a wooden magic basket for one family, a couple gag gifts.
I'm just happy I got everything out. I mailed them priority and will just have to cross my fingers that stuff gets there on time.
I don't have a whole lot of people I'm buying for, and FI is buying for his family.
Mom - $50 in gift certificates to Old Navy and a bottle of Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds
Dad - A bottle of Obsession for Men, a smoked sausage and cracker basket, and his annual pair of Christmas boxers
Sister - Host, a new(ish) book by Stephanie Meyer - author of Twilight which is sister's favorite series, and some new hip make up (DIY Smokey eyes - release your inner punk!) <---Yeah, going through "that" phase lol
Grandparents - $25 restaurant gift card (choice of 4 different restaurants!) and a $25 movie theater gift card.
Best Friend - $25 O'Charlies gift card so she and her BF can go on a date, and a variety pack of minis from Bath and Body Works because she's been complaining that she needs a new scent.
FI - A newtons cradle because he really wants one for his desk, something personal (wink), a $25 gift card to Outback (because I might not have the money to take him out to dinner when he's here lol), and $50 worth of Thornton's white chocolate that will be delivered to his flat just before Christmas.
FMIL - While I was out shopping I couldn't resist getting a bottle stopper with a big stiletto shoe on top. She loves that sort of thing.

I'm having a terrible time figuring out what to get my mom, besides that I'm mostly done (just some stocking stuffers for FH still need to be bought.)
FH's family never does gifts, so that's easy! I will however buy a nice frame and enlarge a picture of FH and me all dolled up for a black tie event. It's a good pic of us and MIL has mentioned about 10 million times that she wants a picture of the 2 of us, so when they come back from Italy in January, I'll give that to them.
FH: we're buying each other a new surround sound system for our living room. I'll add some stocking stuffers, which will be a bag of really good coffee beans, probably some socks and other silly stuff like that.
Dad and Stepmom: A set of 12 coasters and napkin rings in animal print. They collect all kinds of tableware (have 5 different china patterns, 4 different sets of silverware and such, they love that stuff) and their formal living room which is adjacent to the formal dining room is all decked out in African decor, so these fit in nicely. They actually get 10 sets for Christmas, as I just gave my stepmom 2 sets for her birthday.
Brother: A new laptop. My mom, dad and FH all pitched in to buy him a new one(his old one died and that's his only computer). For us it's a combined Christmas/B-day present, so all he gets from us for Christmas is a usb-drive, for the fun of giving something on Christmas.
My mom is a pita to buy for. She gave my brother some suggestions that are all lame and I don't want to buy those as gifts. (Neither does my brother by the way, we talked to each other today and both hate the things she wrote down. If she really wants a crappy 10 euro watch, she can buy it herself. I'm starting to lean towards a gift certificate, which I know she doesn't like, but really, I can't think of ANYTHING. She hates getting new things if the old one still works (even remotely), she hates a cluttered house, so trinkets are a no-no. She has no storage space whatsoever, so larger useful stuff can't go anywhere and she doesn't want/like more quality/expensive things because she actually works with homeless people/addicts and such and is afraid stuff gets stolen. I get that, I do, but really, I don't want to give really crappy quality stuff, that just sucks!
