Lasik eye correction

I am interested in having this done, but not sure where to go.  Please tell me about your experiences...the good, bad and ugly?  Where to go?  Thanks!

Re: Lasik eye correction

  • I wasn't a candidate for LASIK so I had PRK done instead.  I used Dr. Karen Heuer at LASIK plus in Bel-mar.  I highly recommend her.  I am so glad I did it!  Recovery from PRK is pretty awful and it takes forever, but it is totally worth it in the end.  It's been almost four years since I did it and my vision is still perfect!

  • Pixy on this board just had hers done.

My DH has his scheduled with ICON Lasik at Cherry Creek at the start of the year - so I can report back after that.

  • I also had mine done with Dr. Karen Heuer at LasikPlus in Belmar about a year and a half ago.  Their entire staff is great.  I had regular lasik done on both eyes and I was pretty "blind" to begin with.  My vision is great now.  I am so happy with the results and the recovery was minimal without any complications.  I didn't even really experience the "halo" effect they always warn you about when driving at night.  My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner as it's made life so much easier.

Please be very careful with this office.  I do have 2 friends who did fine there but they said that I was a candidate for LASIK even with the level of vision correction that I needed.  I found out that it would have actually been VERY risky for me to have this done.  Fortunately, I had another complication that caused them to deny me but please be very careful with this type of "LASIK shop"

  • I had PRK performed by Dr. Joel Goldstein a little over a year ago.  I can't say enough good things about him and his staff.  He is also just an amazing person and dr when it comes to working with patients.  He even published a book for other doctors on how to work well with patients.

He has been one of the top eye doctors listed in 5280 magazine for many years.

Edit:  I was between 20/800 and 20/1000 prior to my surgery and now I don't need glasses or contacts at all.  It's pretty amazing.

  • I can't say enough good things about the Eye Center of Northern Colorado.
A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • DH had his done at Dishler Laser Institute in the DTC in 2008.  They were awesome.  Highly recommend them.
