Is there an official way to list education on a resume?
When I was in college a career counselor told me the official (and only) way to list a degree on my resume was in this type of format:
2004: University of California, Bachelors of Science, English.
I don't really like this and when I googled I'm seeing a lot of different ways for it to be listed. Does anyone know, or have a preferred way to do this?
Also, I have two minors that aren't related to anything in the real world. I had been including them on my resume thinking people would like that I completed something, but now I'm thinking I want to save the space and leave off anything not related to my field.
Re: Is there an official way to list education on a resume?
I don't think there's a single official way. As long as it's easy to read.
I'd leave the minors off
Mine are written as
Graduation date Graduation date
PhD, Major BA, Major
University Name University Name
Our little Irish rose came to us on March 5, 2010
Don't drink the water.

There isn't a specific way, just so it is clear and easy to read. For another example, mine is written like this with two degrees from the same university:
State University ? Anywhere, Florida
Master of Public Administration (2008)
Bachelor of Arts in Communications/Public Relations (2005)
