Christmas... PUPPY

We've been talking about getting a dog for a couple of months. We tried to adopt an adult rescue dog a couple months ago but she had some pretty serious issues. We found her sister who had already been adopted out and that family took her too (she had separation anxiety because she had always been with her sister and had nipping problems). We found a 2 month old puppy that's exactly what we're looking for. We met him yesterday and I'm going to pick him up today. He's a tiny ball of fluff. It's a good time for us since I'm off until mid-January so I'll be home with him. So cute but crazy!

  • He's adorable. . . but do NOT tell my DH that you got him when we all go out. He's on me like crazy to get a puppy and I just can't do it. You'll give him ammo :). Have fun with him, I'm sure the kids are in heaven!!

  • OMG!  So freaking adorable!
  • He's home! He's so flipping cute. We got a crate, bed, toys, food, and everything else we need. He is happily exploring the house. I'll post more pics later. He's tiny! Way smaller than I remember.

@Pixy - We tried to get an adult husky from Dumb Friends. They separated sisters who had been together since birth (almost 5 years). They both totally freaked out when left alone and had nipping problems whenever they were excited. We were able to track down the family who adopted her sister and they took her too. They e-mailed a couple weeks ago to say both dogs were perfectly fine when together. They were great but they had to be together.

Where did you adopt the puppy from?  This is way before your time on the board, but there are some big problems with some 'shelters' in the area.

I would head over to the Pets board.  They have a FAQ section.  Puppies really shouldn't be separated from siblings/momma til they are 12 weeks old for socialization purposes.  The ladies over there will have some tips to help you with socialization.  Also look into NILF for training.  (Nothing in Life is Free)

  • Congrats on the newest addition to your family.  He's absolutely adorable!  Have you named him yet?
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

not the puppy you didn't end up getting - the one that you actually have now. There is an organization in your area that is not reputable & has had a lot of problems & legal action taken against them for adopting out sick animals & more.

  • Very cute! Did you pick a name?
  • Weeeee!!!! What a cutie!

They were having puppy adoption at Petsmart yesterday, I about died at all the cuteness.
