A game of telephone. Except this message didn't take long to get totally messed up.
My mom calls this morning. She's quite anxious, currently visiting her mom who is also quite worried about me. All of a sudden she asks "aren't you being induced today?" My mind thinks WTF??? while my mouth says "no, why would you ask that?" Seems my MIL called to tell my parents I was being induced in the next 24-36 hours. Enter worries from my parents as well as the looming question as to why we would tell MIL but not them.
Took me about two split seconds to figure this one out. A couple weeks ago DH told his mom that my OB/GYN was leaving the country for Christmas but she really wanted to deliver our baby and intended to strip my membranes. When MIL repeated this information she got the date and the procedure completely wrong. DH just left a message on her phone that I am not being induced and am very much still pregnant.
Anyone else have a new living overseas story?
Re: Sometimes living overseas is like...
The phrase "strip my membranes" is going to give me nightmares. Damn!
When I told my dad we're moving from Norway to Australia he asked, "Will you have to get a different visa then?"
::blink::blink::
Yes dad, because Norway and Australia are two different countries.
WTF? It's kind of shocking how little some Americans (ahem, my folks) know about the world.
The first time I went to England to visit my FI my 14 year old cousin asked me "Will you be driving or flying?"
Thank you public school systems XDD

A former co-worker of my stepmom's once asked me. "You live in Amsterdam, right, doesn't it scare you that they sell heroin in the supermarket there?"
Also, my aunts thought FH and I got married and she missed the announcement or invite or anything because I was wearing a set of rings on my right hand and she'd heard that in other countries wedding rings are worn on the other hand AND a family member told a family member that we were going by a lawyer to change our wills (we have to, we own a house and a mortgage together.) Rings+will obviously = marriage, right?
