Will I need the hotspot feature on the iphone
I am contemplating buying an iphone with the Sprint plan. The hot spot option raises the rate by 30 dollars a month. What is the feature used for?
Re: Will I need the hotspot feature on the iphone
The hot spot is used to "tether" your laptop. Meaning your using your phone as a wireless router hence the reason for a higher gig data plan. An example of this is: my dh takes the train to work every morning, he can use his laptop on the train and connect to the Internet.
The likelyhood of the average joe needing this feature is about zip to none. I've had an iPhone for 5 yrs and have never needed such a feature. I can see needing it if you have a long commute via public transportation and would need to use a laptop instead of the small iPhone.
In short, all the hot spot really is doing is turning your iPhone into an aircard (some people call it a broadband card) and allowing you to use the Internet on your laptop vs the ity bitty iPhone.
