Re: Board games for game night?
Wow.. I am NO help because those are my top 3 favorites for game night, haha
We also like Guesstures, Jenga, and during the summer - Disney Scene It (a group of friends that all work at a summer camp, we like to keep up to date with our Disney knowledge)
Apples to Apples and Cranium are my two favorite games to play, too! I also like Life, Clue (though its a little ho-hum for game night), and Scene-it! Can't go wrong with Scene-it!
Our favorite games for game night are:
Catch Phrase
Apples to Apples
Dutch Blitz
Scene It
Life
Trivia Pursuit
Taboo

We couch surfed with a couple in Montreal last summer who were HUGE board game fans. They actually both worked for board game companies. Anyways, they open our eyes to a number of new board games that are internationally popular, but for some reason don't get so much attention the USA. Something to do with marketing probably. There is actually a competition each year for best board game in the world. The award is called Spiel des Jahres. http://boardgames.about.com/od/awards/a/sdj_winners.htm
From that list of award-winners, I've played Qwirkle and Dixit and Ticket to Ride. All were great fun and easy to learn. Just played Qwirkle with my cousins last weekend - it's their favorite!

depending on how big your group is, we love to play the game "things".
You can even make it up yourself, just cut up a bunch of small papers and write a bunch of questions that start with things ex: things you would find at the office.
Everyone writes their answer on their small piece of paper and you must guess who wrote what.
