Ok, baby is now 3 days overdue. I'm fine with her taking her time to finish growing if that's what she needs, but still can't help wishing she would come now. I have no plans to do a membrane sweep or induction, unless induction becomes medically necessary. My parents and brother arrive Saturday and I really want baby to come now so that DH and I can have some alone time with her.
On Friday morning I had my 40week check with the GP, who made me upset in general because she just has such a dismissive attitude...this was only the second time I saw this one as there are many in the practice but I will not be seeing her again. Although baby had been engaged at 34 and more so at 36 weeks, the GP said she wasn't engaged at all. When I asked if there was anything she would recommend I have at home for post birth recovery, she said "no, nothing" as if it was kind of a ridiculous question. She could have said "paracetemol" at a minimum. Then I went for an eyebrow wax that also made me cry as the "tidy up" became a complete over waxing resulting in a new skinny eyebrow shape.
So I was now obviously upset in general, after complaining to my mom on the phone and finally making myself feel better I started having some bleeding. This led me to end up in the hospital for 24 hours. There was no reason for the bleeding, they suspect it was from having sex the day before but I was kept for observation. I was having tightening contractions up to 2 every 10 minutes, but they weren't painful. I was only a fingertip dilated, but suddenly now baby was 3/5 engaged. No real signs baby was coming and luckily the bleeding was nothing so I just had to wait out the most boring hospital stay ever.
If you have vibes to share can you please send them my way for a healthy baby to make an appearance soon! Thanks for reading my vent.
Re: Baby vibes please
Here are some good, good, GOOD vibes for baby!
Good Luck with everything! I hope baby comes soon!
We're headed to the Maldives on Christmas Eve!
Wow, I can't believe she dismissed your very real question about what to do at home during recovery. I can completely, one hundred percent relate to having bad treatment during pregnancy (I had a sh!tty OB in the public system who made me cry various times before I ended up with an incredible OB in the private system).
So, I'm sending major vibes that your LO decides to come asap on her own and that you have a smooth L&D and get a great medical team working with you.
Cecilia arrived 12 October 2012
Hope baby comes soon...
(if you want something to ease recovery at home afterwards I would recommend arnica pilules - they help with the bruising that is inevitable with a natural birth. In the "hopefully-won't-happen-to-you" event that you need stitches I found that sterile water capsules and a travel size water spritzer are really good for keeping "down there" clean after you use the loo... you can get those in the pharmacy most likely - the water capsules are also known as sterile water for injections if that is of any help)
Hoping you get some mum, dad and baby time before everyone arrives!
Thanks all!
Thanks for the advice Irish Gal, it is much appreciated.
Oh chelbel, I am so sorry your OB is treating you so terribly-definitely not something you should have to deal with right now.
Sending you lots of healthy come out come out wherever you are baby vibes (and relatively soon kiddo!). These last couple weeks of the waiting game have been absolutely anxiety inducing days so I know the feeling my dear. Good luck to you and I hope you have a smooth and easy delivery and are holding your sweet girl in your arms very soon!!
My Israel Blog!
Oh and of course I haven't given birth yet, but here is a list of post partum things I have gathered for recovery:
-witch hazel pads
-squirty bottle
-ultra thick pads
-lanolin
My Israel Blog!
Dear baby girl, please vacate. Your mommy and daddy really want to meet you.
Second the witch hazel pads and squirt bottle. Those pads go on the super sanitary pad to help soothe the area. The squirt bottle is to use in place of toilet paper. Let's just say you don't wipe for a few days.
Dried fruit for the hospital. The fruit sugar and fiber help with energy immediately afterwards.
Come out baby, come out! Your momma really wants to meet you! And we here want to hear about you, we really do. So come out please!!!!
