Is our household the only one out there w/o an Ipod?
I've decided at the last minute that my husband could use an ipod or nice mp3 player that will allow him to still play old CDs if he likes in his office at work.
Can anyone recommend a combo that won't break the bank?
mp3 + cd player + radio
Thanks for upgrading me.

Burn the cds to your computer or to an external hard drive.
Copy the cd files to an mp3 player of any sort.
Voila! mp3 player and all of the old cds in one neat little package. He'll never have to tote around the fancy coasters ever again.
**note: My H has a collection of over 700 cds. We have them all stored in an external hard drive and we move the files on and off of our mp3 players as we want them. I've never actually bought an mp3 file. We still buy full cds. I have a SanDisk Sansa... cheapass to start and add-on memory cards are fairly inexpensive.

Exactly this! It may be time consuming to get the CD's onto your computer and backed up onto an external (depending on how many you have). But it's soooo worth it. You don't have to get an ipod, you could opt for another mp3 player. But I believe with the ipod touch you can get a radio app/ or pandora (someone correct me if I'm wrong). But that way you can have the mp3/radio/cd player.
