Washing hands....

So, we have this lady at work that NEVER washes her hands.  At most, she will rinse them.  This is even after she uses the restroom.  I am totally grossed out by this, and try my best not to touch stuff that she has touched.

She is from Russia, so I was wondering if maybe it could be a cultural thing?  I Googled it, but I didn't find anything. It still doesn't change the fact that it is disgusting.

Re: Washing hands....

  • It's a people thing.  I am surprised there is only one person at your work that doesn't wash his/her hands.  I would say 40% of the gals on my floor either don't wash, or only rinse their hands.

  • I worked with a girl who was a wicked germo-phobe and would NEVER wash her hands in the bathroom because she thought it was disgusting. She would get back to her desk, use a wet wipe and Purell. Also, I used to work in a place where the bathrooms only had cold to luke warm water at best. I would rinse, then go to the kitchen and use hot water there to wash. I'm just saying that you never really know what's going on with some people...

ITA. In one of our facilities the soap in the bathroom is REALLY drying. Like crazy, super industrial strength soap. Of the women I work with hates it and doesn't use that sink. She comes back out to our building to use the sink in the break area, which for some reason has different soap.

ETA: I always used to give people a major WTF?! look when they didn't wash their hands until I met this gal. It just never ocurred to me that people would wash their hands AFTER leaving the bathroom (or like rayskit says, use their own purell or wipes at their desk) And this comes from a crazy handwasher. I use a papertowel to turn on the sink, wash while I sing happy birthday in my head, get a paper towel, then turn off the sink, dry and open the door with my paper towel. :)
