In my high school days I frequented tanning beds (read everyday 6x a week). Since then I've become more conscious about the harms of tanning beds and sun exposure. I have always had a (flat) dark mole on the right side of my neck, but recently (about 3 months ago) I've noticed it starting to get bigger and almost more of a skin tag.
My question is does Tricare cover skin checks at dermatology offices? I've never been to one, but I have a friend (not military) that goes and gets a full body 'skin check' every 6 months. I know I'm going to make an appointment for the one I've been noticing, but I guess I want to make sure there is nothing else I need to worry about.
I've been meaning to call and set an appointment to get the one on my neck looked at for awhile (which I plan on doing tomorrow), but after talking to my dad today he told me he actually had skin cancer and they cut all of it out today.
Re: Tricare question..
Possible cancerous mole = medically necessary. You probably need to get a referral. I had a gyno actually check my chest, stomach, neck, and back for odd moles. I asked my dermatologist to look at a mole on my neck that goes from skin tone to red off and on (no rhyme or reason) and she said she couldn't because it is not on my referral. ::sad face::
Ahh you're amazing! Thank you!
ditto this~ I just did this and had my dermatologist appt. last week..
