A few weeks ago, I had an interview scheduled and then the day of the interview I received a call that saying that the interview would need to be rescheduled. I called back a few days later and asked when they felt it would be rescheduled and I was told the administrator was very busy and would get back to me, they weren't sure when it would be rescheduled. I called a few days again after that and got the same response. I called again and left a voicemail and did not get a response after several voicemails. I wanted to keep on trying but, I stopped calling because I began to feel silly. But I still not sure why the interview was never rescheduled. This has never happen to me and I feel like I need some kind of answer. I feel like I might want contact a superior but I don't know if that is the right thing to do. I am not looking to burn bridges, but I want and deserve an answer.
Re: Teachers come in...
Honestly, depending on how many voicemails you left within a short timeframe I think you may have an answer to why you haven't received a call back. Even if they didn't turn your interviewer off, this is a busy time of year for everyone, particularly if the district in question ended the semester last week. Administrators in my district have to complete all evaluations before the holidays, plus attend a variety of end-of-semester events and meetings, leaving them no time to do things like conduct interviews.
Bottom line, you may think you deserve an answer to your question about the interview, but you're at the very bottom of the list of must-dos for those on the hiring committee right now. Complaining to the district will almost certainly burn some big bridges (in addition to doing absolutely nothing--Central Office couldn't care less why the school didn't interview you) not only with the campus but potentially with others in the district as well. Cool your jets, focus on the holidays, and don't give up hope that the interview will be rescheduled in January.
