My co-workers are a bunch of cookie monsters!

I brought a bunch of Christmas cookies to the office today, which I do every year. Everyone LOVES that tradition and my roomie and I actually count seconds to see how long it takes for the first people to arrive. We were actually surprised that it took more than 30 seconds (32 to be precise), as that's a new 'slow record'.

I had MORE than enough for everyone and I just heard that a couple of people actually ended up not getting any.

I'm really glad people like my cookies, but really, if you see a platter of cookies that's supposed to be for everyone (and you can tell it's enough for 1 or 2 per person) would you grab 4 or 5 cookies? (3 people actually did that, 1 took 3 and a bunch took 2 - I was in a meeting most of the time, but my co-worker told me.)

I guess next year I'll just walk by everyone's desks and hand them out :-) And for now I'll take it as a compliment!

  • Aww, that's so sweet that you bake for the office!  While it generally is considerate to only take 1 or 2, if these cookies are as good as they sound, I agree that this is an "every man for himself" cookie fest!  I only wish I was there to gobble up 4 Smile

ETA: I'm kidding, the person who took 3 is a doucher, but it definitely is a compliment!

  • I want to try these cookies.

  • In all honesty, those cookies really aren't all that special, just cookies they don't generally have in NL. Plus NL doesn't really have a cookie baking culture - pound cake and Dutch apple pie all the time, but no-one I know bakes cookies. (Actually a friend of mine called me this weekend, her SO had brought a christmas cookie book back from the US so she called with "what the heck does parchment paper and meringue powder mean - and baking soda is baking powder right and where do you buy food coloring and what is shortening?")

The cookies I baked were just ginger snaps (which don't exist in NL) and oatmeal/pecan/choc chip cookies. But I guess that if you're used to store bought cookies, anything freshly baked is awesome.

Now what is awesome (but I didn't bring it to the office because FH forbid me because he wants to keep it!) is the almond toffee and the torrone I made.
