1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie? Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses, Carol of the Bells, & It Must Have Been Old Santa Clause by Harry Connick, Jr. Movie- I don't know...
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year? I honestly have NO idea yet... at some member of DHs family... but I don't know who at this time.
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received? Best gift I've ever given...I LOVE to find that perfect gift. The best gift I ever gave as a kid: my aunt (who is a nun, by the way) mentioned something about how she would love to have an emerald tennis bracelet. So for Christmas that year, I bought her one from Claire's. She still has it 25 years later & she wore it to our wedding! Best in recent years: DH and I traveled to Ireland shortly after we started dating. That Christmas I made him an "album cover" of my favorite picture of him (it looked like a CD cover!!). I bought a few album frames & bought some other albums of bands we liked, too.
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays?
We buy each other ornaments- but that's it. With our family so far apart, it's difficult to do our own thing.
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? My mom's molasses cookies.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you? Just being with family & hanging out! And watching the kids open presents
1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie?
I think this one is a toss-up between "Silent Night" and "I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas." Both classics
I don't watch many movies, but I remember loving Miracle on 34th St.
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year?
For the first time ever, we're spending it together! Last year, Devin and I split up, but this year we're going to my family's Christmas. Then, we're going to see his family on Jan 1 for a few days.
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received?
A few years ago, I managed to track down a copy of the cookbook my mom had when she first got married. It was out of print, but I found it on ebay after months of searching. That was my favorite thing to give because she never would have expected it, but she really loved it. I think the best thing I've received is a pair of diamond studs from my dad when I was about 17. Again, unexpected and thoughtful.
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays?
We plan to get a new ornament for our tree each year that reminds us of something we did that year. So far, that's it.
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie?
I love gingerbread men! I'm making some right now.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you?
My favorite part of Christmas is going to church on Christmas eve. It's just too beautiful.
1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie? "Joy to the World" is a favorite and a movie is tough to pick. I like quite a few.
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year? We are spending the actual holiday with DH's family, but then flying out to CA the 26-30th to be with my parents.
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received?This is a tough one...I like to think of myself as a good gift giver, but I can't think of anything magical about any of the gifts I have given. My best gift ever was when my parents bought me a horse when I was in 8th grade.
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays?NO...I am hoping this changes after we have little ones. Right now I feel like DH's family dictates how we do things.
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? I like the combination of chocolate and peppermint.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you? spending time with my favorite people and giving thoughtful gifts
1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie? Carol: Hark the Herald Angels Sing & O Holy Night Song: All I want for Christmas is You (think of the cute part with the little kids at the end of Love Actually...yep!) Movie: How the Grinch Stole Christmas (the cartoon version, Boris Karloff) & The Year Without a Santa Claus.
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year? Christmas Eve: Drive 2hrs to IL's at the crack of dawn, open presents, have lunch, drive 3 hrs to DH's uncles, keep germy kids away from DD, have dinner, drive 3 hrs to my parent's church, go to midnight mass, spend the rest of the time @ my parents. I am dreading the driving.
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received? Given....hmm... either last year when we got my parents "dinner out" during our trip to WDW this past fall (they have always gone to WDW with kids and have never had anything but chicken nuggets LOL) OR when I got DH a kinect and watched him play it all Christmas Day (I had just had knee surgery, so I couldn't play yet). Gotten? hmmm....probably when Santa brought the Wii for my siblings and I - we played Rock Band ALL WEEK.
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays? Yep, we go to Colonial Williamsburg every December to see all the decorations. We also read part 'A Christmas Carol' every night throughout the month of December, trying to finish it by the 24th.
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? Reese's peanut butter cup blossoms.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you? Christmas Eve mass & the aftermath at home.....I know it sounds silly, but there is just something so inherently joyful and special about midnight mass....the music, the choir at church, then when we get home, eating cold pierogi, watching the pope's mass form Rome, re-telling the stories of masses past (like the year my brother and I were altar servers and he fell asleep during mass and the whole church could see him....or the year my baby brother asked really loud after the gospel "Why are they telling a story about sissy and me?" [you can probably guess what their names are]), and running around the house like crazies at 1am with my mom yelling "if you don't get your butts in bed right now Santa is going to turn around and never come to our house!!"....okay, now I'm super stoked for Saturday night.
1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie? I love Christmas music so it is hard to pick just one. I love Deck the Halls, I Want a Hippo for Christmas, Nuttin For Christmas, and Grandma got ran over by a reindeer....Movie: A Very Brady Christmas
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year? at DH's parents..five hours away from home
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received?
Given: Two years ago I gave DH who was FI at the time an autographed book by his favorite author that I was able to order on the internet...he was so excited....A no whining sign I found for my mom one year...she teaches second grade and always says this so the sign was perfect (It had whining with a no sign over it like no smoking.)
Received: So many to choose from, I got a Nintendo with power pad in fourth grade, I got Nintendo games in fifth grade and my brother and I stayed up half the night (we opened presents on Christmas Eve) playing this game Anticipation,
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays?
We switch off every other year going to his family/parents-five hours away- and my family who has a celebration on Christmas Eve and Christmas day but those are local. He made me a stocking last year with my name on it in glitter ink and bought another one so I could make him one. This year he made one for my mom, brother, SIL, and nephew and when we had Xmas here last week we put things in everyone's stocking. His familiy does that too....mine at his parents house has Fredbird on it...a stuffed Fredbird cut in half with the front on the front of the stocking and the back part on the back.
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? Sugar cookies with icing that are shaped like Christmas trees and snowmen from a local bakery near my hometown. I picked them up today. They are amazing and we have family and neighbors who were asking if we were getting those cookies this year.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you?
Being and spending time with family, celebrating my faith, seeing people open and get joy from their presents, and getting two weeks off work!!!
1. What is your favorite Christmas song or carol? Movie? I love "All I want for Christmas is You" and "Christmas Shoes". I LOVE Home Alone - DH and I just finally bought it a few weeks ago.
2. Where are you spending the holiday this year? Christmas Eve/Christmas morning with DH's fam. Afternoon and the next day with my family.
3. What is the best Christmas gift you've ever given? Received? Not sure on the this right now.....can't think of anything!
4. Have you and your H established any new traditions for the holidays? We buy an ornament every year with the year on it....I'm hoping way down the road we can have a separate, small tree with all our yearly ornaments on it!
5. What is your favorite kind of Christmas cookie? Sugar cookies are awesome.
6. What is the absolute best part of the holiday season to you? I love the lights and decorations....I have an obsession with snowman!

Hopefully this year will be the best gift giving years...will let you know after! Ziggy got me a nintendo DS one year, it was a great gift!

Just switching off holidays as noted above.

My mom's linzer tart cookies, they are SO good

Just being with family and seeing the christmas spirit everywhere
