**Irish Gal**

My brother is going to Ireland to study abroad and his school recommended he bring a gift for the family he does a few days of home study with.  Do you have any good recommendations for a gift he could bring?  TIA

Re: **Irish Gal**

  • When the kids at my school go in a home stay they bring something very London-esque. Ex. Something from selfridges food hall or British chocolates.

  • Hi Chelbel, saw this last night but can never seem to get an answer posted from my iphone.

Where is he coming from? I would suggest something that is typically associated with where he is coming from, even if it seems a bit odd. For example, my parents had a student stay once coming from Reunion and he brought a traditional hand weaved throw for a gift.  As ukyankee suggested food would be acceptable too (though perhaps nothing too off the wall such as haggis cos the family may have to slap on some fake smiles for that...)

  • Haha, thanks to both of you. He's coming from the states, NJ specifically. I didn't know if maybe there were any American products/foods that you can't get in Ireland, but they have maybe been well received there.

  • I can't think of anything... just don't bring chocolate, especially not hersheys... to the Irish it tastes like industrial chocolate compared to what we have here...
