flipping christmas tree.

I have always had a live  tree and put  it up  the 2nd week in dec. but for what ever reason I agreed to get it and up  it up  on  the first.   Now that  dang thing is dry.

Re: flipping christmas tree.

  • Did you get a fresh cut? Keep water in the stand? I've also heard putting corn syrup or white sugar in the water will keep it longer, but I've never tried that.

yep, fresh  cut.  the tree was fresh.  The stand  holds a gallon of water and it  was never  out.    BTW add sugar to  the water does not do anything  except grow mold.  I'm not  too  shocked. I mena they  only last  about a month and it  is right at 3 weeks.

  • Hm. Good to know about the sugar. Three weeks still seems short to me. I usually get a tree the first week of December and have never had a problem leaving it up until at least the Epiphany.

What about the tree placement? Is it near an air vent or radiator that might be drying it out prematurely? Are you keeping the house warmer than in years past? Otherwise, how about the source? Is it directly from a tree farm or from another vendor?
