What do you have for Christmas dinner?
My family has recently decided to converge at my place on Christmas eve, so now I have to come up with a menu for a Christmas dinner. I need ideas. I'm thinking a beef roast, but that's as far as I've gotten. What kind of side dishes would you serve with that? Any special Christmas desserts or cocktails? (Also, one sister is a vegetarian, so any thoughts on what I could make for her would be awesome. I suck at coming up with meat-free main dishes.)
Re: What do you have for Christmas dinner?
We always have ham for Christmas and cheesey potatoes and then whatever other sides people bring but those are the two staples.
What about some roasted potatoes and veggies that your sister could turn into her main dish and others can eat as a side dish?
This exactly.
We do Xmas Eve with my family - lasagna, ham, potatoes of some sort, meatballs, sweet potatoes, and a veggie.
We do Xmas Day with my H's family - they do the traditional turkey, stuffing, potatoes, basically everything you'd have at Thanksgiving.
I'm doing Chicken parm here on xmas eve for me, dh and my kids.
for boxing day dinner (we're doing presents there that day)
My MIL is having prime rib and a bunch of sides for xmas dinner (if we make it in time)
My SIL is having pizza, wings, salad, and sushi
My mom is having lunch meat platter, chili and baked ziti I think. Weird combos for the last two days mentioned, but good just the same!
