Travels

Thought I'd ask some questions (not really a poll, just initiating a conversation) about travel to keep the board rolling.   So, where have your travels taken you recently?  Where are you off to soon?  Any plans for the upcoming holidays?

Re: Travels

  • I'll start!  Well, I haven't gone ANYwhere recently, but I'm excited about my upcoming travels.  First, a long weekend in San Diego mid November.  DH has a conference and I get to tag along.  It's a great $$ saver... all we pay for is my own airfare.  We're also driving to Asheville, NC and staying in a cabin with some family for Turkey Day.  Then, it looks like we're off to Germany for Christmas.  The Germany trip is more of a family visit- DH's aunt is battling ovarian cancer and we're going to spend a lot of time with her and his mom.  (they're very close)  We might spend one day over in Amsterdam since it's only about 2 hours by train... but mostly we'll just be in Duesseldorf.

  • Unfotunately we haven't gone anywhere lately!  We took a couple of trips to St. Louis this summer, but this fall we've been pretty homebound.  We'll be going to southern IL to visit the IL's at the end of november, and then again Christmas day.  I want to make a trip to Chicago or Cincinnati before it starts snowing to visit IKEA.  Other than that, we're pretty stuck in a rut!
  • DH and I just got back from Italy.  We spent 3 weeks traveling around the central, north, and coastal areas.  We went to the Bahamas in May, Tahoe in January.  We are definitely staying in the US for the next few vacations!  There's so much to see!

  • we were in cape cod over the summer.  we are going to orlando in january, but that is for a conference.  we want to do a staycation this summer and take time off together and work on the new house
  • As far as traveling together for fun, we just got back from Pittsburgh for our anniversary trip and we'll plan our week vacation this spring/summer (maybe?), but we don't know where yet. I might also tag along to an Trailblazer off-roading trip to VA with Mike this year, but who knows.

I'm travling to the St. Louis area and central/southern Illinois a lot for work now, and I was recently working in Colorado and Montana (I can't wait to go back for a vacation!). I've also traveled to North Dakota for work.

I'm actually ready to stay home for a bit, especially now that I'll have to be in StL every week from here on out.

Move along, nothing to see here.....
  • Puerto Vallarta in September for our anniversary, Los Angeles and London for work the past 3 weeks. No other trips coming up except driving to IL for Thanksgiving and Xmas (hubby's family).
  • October was a busy travel month for us.  We were in Nashville/Franklin, TN for a wedding the first weekend, then Columbus, OH for DH's mini marathon the third weekend, then Gatlinburg, TN for a family weekend.  I also travel pretty regularly to Louisville (usually once a week) for work.  We're looking forward to being home this weekend!

  • I've been travelling loads lately and I LOvE It!!! although, it has made it hard to volunteer for election stuff :(

In July I was in Albany, NY, early October in DC, and just got home from San Diego, CA all for school/work related stuff.

We are likely going to Nebraska for Christmas this year to visit Shane's grandparents which means hours and hours and hours in the car and of course our usual Thanksgiving/Black Friday trip to STL later in the month. After that its' ATL in February for work and then hopefully fellowship interviews in the spring.

If the darn economy didn't suck (ie weak dollar and poor us) we would be doing our 5 year anniversary trip to Europe... so if you come across any deals Kelly :-)
