QOTD

Are you excited to see your family over the holidays or are you bah humbug about it?

I'm excited!

Re: QOTD

  • I'll see my parents New Year's weekend.  Not sure about my sister and her kids.  We will see DH's family and I'm looking forward to dinner at FIL's house with SIL and her DH.

  • I wouldn't say I'm bah humbug about it - although I'm generally a grinch at the holidays. It's just that I'm not seeing anyone I don't see any given week so I'm just meh about it.

I'll clarify that I'm a grinch usually because I really dislike the stress that many of us put on ourselves this time of year to meet what we think other people expect. I really dislike forced gift giving. I'd rather just buy people things throughout the year when I think of something for them (and give it to them then). And because holidays make people crazy, and then we all just feed off each other's crazy.

  • I'm pretty meh about it as well. BIL and his GF are in town which will be nice, but they're both constantly staring at their iphones rather than being totally engaged in whatever the rest of the family is doing. MIL is starting to get peeved. We did the big family Christmas last Saturday, and that was really the big thing I was looking forward to, so now I'm basically just waiting until we get to see my parents. It never feels quite like Christmas with the ILs. We have a great time, it just still doesn't feel right to me.

  • We see people we always see so it's no big deal.  I really miss Christmas with my family in Rochester, but it is too much with my ILs and my sister.
