? for Silhouette users

Hi all,

I recently purchased a silhouette machine.   I can't get it to cut through thicker paper. What settings should I use?  And what about for cardstock?

I just tried it on thick paper - not even card stock.  I had it do a double cut. Still it did not cut through.

Any tips?

Thanks!

Re: ? for Silhouette users

  • I was just cutting Paper Source cover, (I'd say it's a thick cardstock) and I had to put it on the thickest depth (33 on my sd) and it still didn't go through in every place. also used the less sticky mat, the more appropriate mat was so strong, it ripped off a layer of my card when I took it off the mat. :(

    good luck

  • Yep, I use the less sticky mat, the pink cap and the 33 depth setting to cut thick cardstock.

  • I have a cameo - so one blade, one mat.  I had it on 33 thickness, 5 speed.  Should I slow it down? I'm really at a loss.  This is a new blade, too.
  • What is the blade setting itself (which notch is it on)?

  • I have the blade on 2. Should I go to a higher number?
  • I would go higher. I typically cut thinner cardstock on a 3. If that doesn't work, you should email Silhouettes customer service. They are great with giving tips to help you out.

  • Is there a "double cut" option on the Cameo? I know on my SD there is, and I always use that on cardstock.

-- Oops, guess I should read the whole post :)

  • The higher blade number worked like a charm!  Thanks so much! If you have other tips, I am all ears!
  • Yay!!
