Can I AW my stepping stone?
I'm really happy with how it turned out. I made it for my MIL. So glad I'm done with it though! Sorry for the crappy phone pic.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.
Re: Can I AW my stepping stone?
Ohhh, it's beautiful! I love it!
Was it hard to do? How long did it take you to do? Do you think you'd do another one again in the future (for yourself or for a gift)?
So pretty!
That looks fabulous! Great job!

Sure. I'm sure there's tutorials online though. I got the plain stepping stone, tile adhesive, grout and tile nippers at Home Depot (Michaels sells these too, but they're 30% more expensive), along with some white, black and cobalt blue tiles. The glass squares and the circle thingys came from Michaels.
Basically I just break up a bunch of the big tiles with a hammer (I like to do it either in a plastic bag or at least on top of a piece of paper for less mess and to minimize damaging the tile face). Then I use the tile nippers to get a more exact shape (for some reason you can't use them like scissors, you have to just put the very edge of the tile between the "teeth". (I think a tile scorer would give you straighter edges, but I've never used one.) You just put the glue on the bottom of the tile with a plastic knife and attach to the stone. Let it dry and then follow the directions on the package for grouting. Like I said, I didn't care for the premixed grout. It left a haze on the tiles that was difficult to rub off.
