Are you excited about the holidays this year, or are you already ready for them to be over?
Re: QOTD Friday
I'm excited about the holidays since we're hosting my parents and sister for the first time at our place!
But I'm a little stressed with how much $$$ we've been spending buying food. I had no idea how much money we would spend hosting.

Excited! DS is really into Christmas/Santa this year, which makes it more fun. I think our plans for seeing family are actually going to work (and not be too stressful), and it's going to be a nice long weekend. Plus my birthday is next week, which means the gift-giving goes on all week!
I do wish my coworker would stop playing her stupid Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas music toy thing, though. Grrr.

I never care about the holidays, bring on the New Year!

I like the timing this year with Christmas on the weekend - it'll just feel like a weekend travelling to see family and then we have off on Monday and we'll already be back relaxing.
Our family's not big into the gifts (which I'm grateful for), but staying with my sister and her family will be fun, and we'll be eating well - dinner out tonight and lobster at my sister's for Christmas Eve. Should be a nice time!
I'm more excited for New Years (even though i'm turning 30
) than I am for Christmas.
I hate clutter and our house is littered with Christmas cards, presents, and food treats. I snapped yesterday and threw a ton of stuff out.
Previously I said that my parents were able to come down for Christmas instead of my ILs, but since my MIL dicked us over, it was too late for my dad to ask for time off and he was the only supervisor left - so he couldn't take vacation. So we're spending Christmas by ourselves.
Christmas can bite me this year.
but still, bring on the champagne and presents
We make the rockin' world go 'round.
I'm finally excited. I went on a tear last night and cleaned my downstairs (not deep cleaned, but clean enough to not stress me out) and the rest of the stuff I plan to do is stuff that's fun - bake another batch of cookies, put up the last of the decorations (I don't care that it's 2 days before - we leave them up until January 6th!), wrap DH's gifts.
It's just DH and I this year, but I'm looking forward to a nice quiet weekend and cooking a yummy meal together for Christmas Day.
I'm excited for the holidays, and the fact that I get 11 days off, even though it's "forced PTO." I'm also super excited that I will be visiting my college roommate next week since I have the time off and DH does not.
I am absolutely dreading hosting 19 women for a baby shower on Dec. 26. I expect to be very drunk that evening when it's all over.

I'm looking forward to an opportunity to relax (we're not hosting, just going to my parents' in DE) and catch up with family/friends more than the holiday itself.
Schy, good luck with the baby shower!

I'm excited, I think... we don't have big plans (most of the time we will be with John's family but they are local and mine are not, so I don't begrudge him that time, esp with his 87 y.o. dad). But I've been on vacation this week, and have next week off, too, so lots of down time means far less stress in my life, and I am excited about that! We are having everyone here for a dinner on Monday night and I am hopeful that doesn't turn into Squabble City.....lots of wine from the April in Napa trip to make it all fuzzy, if trouble does erupt!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, all!
"What is a week-end?"
Both? I am so excited for the kids this Christmas. Maggie is SO into all of it and believing in Santa. She has been counting down the days all by herself since 10 days until Christmas. I think they are going to love their presents and Molly is old enough to open her own presents and be excited for them this year. Sat we are decorating cookies with them and grandma and their aunt, then a nice Christmas Eve dinner after they go to bed with DH's family secret santa to follow.
What I am not excited about is trying to prep for all of DH's family to stay in our house and eat here from Sat to next Wed morning (7 adults and 3 kids including us). All this cooking and cleaning and food shopping is exhausting. I finished wrapping the kids' presents last weekend and cleaned and cooked in advance as much as possible but there is still so much to do last minute. Yesterday the kids went to daycare while I started doing it all but today they are home with me which seriously cuts back on the amount I can get done. I just feel so harried and anxious about getting it all done (it will get done but how little sleep will I get?).
