Re: Weekend/Holiday Plans?

  • I am dreading this weekend because it is hectic and exhausting.

Tonight we have to drive an hour to my mom's house for our traditional taco night.  We are spending the night at my mom's because we do Christmas Eve with my family.  Saturday night we will drive an hour back home.  Then we get up Sunday and do our family xmas, then drive 45 minutes to my in-laws, then to my MIL's moms house, then 1.5 hours to my grandma's.  Then we have to go 30 minutes to my mom's house to spend the night again.  We will finally make it home Monday.  Thank goodness we don't celebrate with my dad or any of his family!

I'm already exhausted!  Next Thursday can't come soon enough!  I'm so ready for a vacation!

  • Whew!  That does sound exhausting.  I'm really glad my family and E's family all live within a 3 mile radius of each other.

Today: Had my 2 week pp check up.  I'm down 33 lbs since I've delivered!  This puts me way below my pre pregnancy weight and I'm so excited!  She took the tape off my stitches and cleared me to drive.  I took a look at my incision without the tape and I can't even see the stitches-I'm guessing they're inside??

Tonight: We're going grocery shopping.  Not sure if we're going to take the baby or not.  We will get done faster without him but if my Sister goes grocery shopping we are going to have to leave him with the ILs.  I'm still debating on that one. lol

Tomorrow: We are having Christmas Eve celebrations at our house.  We usually make it a game night and dinner with my family.  I'm excited, we started this tradition last year and are keeping it up.

Sunday: Our first Christmas together as a family.  We will open up our presents at home get dressed and head over to my Sister's.  We will do Christmas together there and then walk over to my Grandparents house to spend time with my Dad's side of the family.  Breakfast will be there and we will hang out and watch football.  Sometime after we will go to the ILs because now they are celebrating Christmas?? lol Christmas evening we will be back at my Sister's for dinner.

Monday: E has Monday off and so we will try and sleep in...as much as Lucas wil allow.  We'll go do some shopping on the 2nd most busiest day of the year.  I need new clothes because I gave all of my jeans away when I found out I got pg because I didn't think I would fit in them after the baby came. Plus I haven't been shopping in almost a year, I need some new pieces for my wardrobe.

  • Today: I'm *supposed* to be working. So not motivated though... Tonight, hanging out with M and tying the last few bows on the presents.

Tomorrow: M and I are driving up (50 minutes) to take his grandmother out for brunch. Then heading home to watch football and do our Christmas baking... Doughnuts and truffles :) Then we head to my mom's cousin's to see the few members of that side of the family that actually get together.

Christmas day: M and I will have our Christmas together in the morning. Then since its a Sunday we'll go to church for the service. Then it's to my dad's for brunch and gifts. Then to my grandparent's for gifts. Then we finally skedaddle up to M's parent's for dinner and gifts. Looooooooooooooooong day.

  • I am also kind of dreading the craziness that is going to occur over the next few days.  And I love Christmas so much, so it's kind of bumming me out that i feel stress about it.

Tomorrow (Christmas Eve):  My family is doing an all day Christmas celebration at my house (which I still need to clean).  We are cooking turkey dinner will open presents, play games, etc.

Tomorrow (Christmas Day):  Wake up fairly early and open our stockings with just me B and Kenz.  Then my parents are going to come over for breakfast/brunch.  And we need to be on the road to head to B's parents (3 1/2 hr drive) by about noon so that we can be there in time for another turkey dinner with them and BIL's family.

We are then staying at the IL's until the 27th and then we will drive home, stopping in the city to visit B's grandma in the nursing home and trying to be back home in time to hit up my side's "extended family Christmas get together", around supper time.

Ughhhh....it stresses me out just thinking about it and typing out that crazy schedule.  I really really really hope Kenzie gets over her carseat/car ride aversion ASAP or that drive is going to be hell.

  • Tomorrow I'm making cupcakes for dessert on Christmas Day. Then just kind of relaxing with Steve and Finn. We're making a roast chicken for dinner and then doing our gift/stocking swap with eachother. Later that night I'll go to the candlelight service at church.

Christmas day we are driving over to my parents' house around lunch time and doing the gift exchange then staying for dinner/dessert. I'm excited about the cupcakes I'm bringing... the gingerbread ones I pinned yesterday! I'm making the little gingerbread men toppers this afternoon now that the sausage treats I made for Finn are completely cleaned up.

I'll try to post a pic later, but I made little treat bags for each of the dogs at my parents' house and my twin's new dog. They have their names on them on the front and the back says "Merry Christmas! Love, Finn". Each dog will get a couple treats from us in their bag. :)

The best part of the holidays for me though is the full week that Steve and I have off together starting tomorrow! Best. Christmas. gift. ever!

  • Today: I left work at 10:45 and then did the rest of my Christmas shopping and bought myself two new sweaters since I seem to rip holes in the left elbow...

Tomorrow: sleep in, clean/tidy the house, my parents and grandmother come over for about an hour before we go the the Christmas Eve service at church.

Sunday: maybe go to church, open presents with DH, eat lunch, go over to my parents house and spend time with some family

Next week: I'm off and I hope to get some work around the house done (like painting, or switching electrical plugs/switches).

  • We spent today (and likely a chunk of tomorrow!) cooking and cleaning.

We're going to M's Uncle's for Christmas Eve and then his Mom and brother are going to midnight mass with us and staying over.

My family is coming down for Christmas too. It'll be a full house!

  • We have all been sick in our house this week so I am just hoping we all wake up feeling better tomorrow.

We already did christmas with my parents because they are headed to Michigan for a week. So tomorrow we go to DH's aunts house for a big family christmas. It's just in town and we won't stay past 8 due to eli's bed time.

Christmas morning we will go to church then we will go to my in-laws to exchange presents with them.

We actually have a pretty laid back weekend. it is so nice that all our family is in town.

  • Today: DH and I were both off so we went and saw The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, drove around and looked at Christmas lights, and went out to dinner...a nice date day!

Tomorrow: presents at FIL's house with FIL and SIL, and breakfast. We normally do this Christmas morning but SIL is flying to Colombia on Christmas day. Then we're hosting Christmas eve dinner at our house for FIL, SIL, my parents and my brothers. After that, we go to FIL's church service, and then to a friend's birthday get together. Wow, now that I typed it out, it's a pretty busy day!

Sunday: going to my parents', spending the day with my family, exchanging gifts, big Christmas dinner, and games. FIL comes too, which is nice.

Monday: Christmas with my mom's side of the family at my parents' house.

Then Thursday, we drive to Mass. For Christmas with my dad's side. Whew! Busy week!

  • K posting from my iPad so no promises on formatting...

Tonight we're at my in-laws. Then tomorrow we are spending the afternoon with my family, then Mass with the in-laws, then back to my family's for other Christmas Eve celebrations, then staying the night at the in-laws so we can wake up and do Christmas morning with SILs. That will be EARLY so then we plan to be at my family's by 9 am for Christmas morning part two. Then David goes back home Christmas night, and I am staying at my mom's since the 26th is a federal holiday and the bank is closed.

Add in the dogs and the fact that I still can't really walk, and this is going to be a very interesting weekend.

  • It's going to be a busy one for us too...

Yesterday we went to BIL's house for dinner, exchanged gifts because they are spending this Christmas with SIL's family. We also got to meet their brand new nephew! (they now have 3 and 1 more on the way due in March, so they're hoping this one is a girl lol).

Tonight we have Lance's big family Christmas eve gift exchange and dinner, and then for Christmas we're having a quiet GTG at his parent's house.

Monday is Boxing Day in Canada, and I will be going out to buy my new computer hopefully!!!

  • Today I have relaxed with the dogs. A swapped shifts w/ someone who has children so they could spend Christmas Eve w/ her since they go to their Dad's on Christmas Day. I finished wrapping gifts and unpacking from AK and straightening up.

Tomorrow the ILs are flying in for the afternoon. They arrive around 1130am and fly out around 6. We are meeting for lunch in the city, exchanging gifts, and taking them back to the airport. A and I are coming home, eating our traditional meal, exchanging gifts and just hanging out w/ the dogs.

  • I hit the jackpot with DH when it comes to holidays.  His parents are Jehovah's Witnesses, so we just celebrate with my family!

Last night we ordered takeout and drove around looking at the lights - there's a great neighborhood out here that really does things up nicely.  They're even on the news!  There are people offering carriage rides, handing out popcorn, selling mistletoe, and carolers dressed up like victorian carolers.  One house has their light show coordinated with the xmas station on the radio.

This morning we had a fabulous breakfast at my parents' and opened presents.  Then DH and I came home and worked like mad so we could have Christmas dinner over here.  We made our first prime rib with all the fixins, and it was wonderful!
