Ok so I just got myself a new laptop...my issue is that I can't instal my old MS office as power pc programs don't work on it
To get a new copy of MS office (just 1 computer) would cost me $120! Pages, etc only cost $16 each. So my question is are they any good, should I go for them or should I use open office (which I'm not very fond of to tell you the truth).
Re: Mac users
How about this, sure, it's the previous version, but 43 dollars... http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=office+for+mac&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.,cf.osb&biw=1232&bih=664&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=8104421810125983479&sa=X&ei=qKf3Tq33OcmBOuynobkB&ved=0CJYBEPMCMAQ#ps-sellers

I do like Pages. It's a solid program, however, many of the fonts aren't x-compatible. My problem here is that it really messes up documents which I'm constantly editing.
I do think you need more than Open Office. It works in a pinch, but it has major formatting issues.
This is a long way of saying that I think it depends on what all you'll be doing and who will see your documents. Because I have to send documents and most people have MSOffice, it was in my best interest to get it. If this doesn't apply to you, the other programs will be just fine.
