So??? Any fab holiday gifts?

My wonderful hubby got me a Keurig that I LOVE!!!!!  Daughter and her hubby got us theatre tickets, with them, for two shows this year.  I love getting memory-making experiences as gifts!  Had an excellent day!  You?
My baby girl is a married woman...and now my baby girl HAS a baby girl. Time unfolds in such an amazing way. I've been blessed!

Re: So??? Any fab holiday gifts?

  • Nothing fab for me.  I'll spare you the details - lets just say that my husband is going to be in the doghouse for a while.  Needless to say, he did nothing to improve my over all "Bah Humbug" attitude about 2011's Christmas season.
  • I scored best on my non-Christmas gifts. I've been saving for a Vitamix blender for AGES, and finally purchased it, and DH broke his phone and we were due for new ones, so I have an ihone 4 (hello, Siri!). My actual gifts included a Kindle, so that maybe I'll read something deeper than a magazine, and a gramma-made scarf from a friend. It was a wonderful holiday, even though I had to work. I'm off today, fully pedicured, and having a beer. happy Boxing Day!
  • Sorry!  Men can be completely clueless.  Mine wants a list and only rarely strays from it!  It's better that way.  Nearly 32 years of marriage gets you a system that works!

  • An electric mandolin!  We have a regular, manual mandolin which scares the crap out of me.  Now we'll just put the veggies in a shoot and let the machine do the work--sort of like a salad shooter but it also juliennes :)
    Matt loves Munkii!!!

Love Vitamixes!  The tiny cooking store I worked at for ages sold them and I was always thrilled to bag one up for someone who would really enjoy it.

Mine fell into the totally clueless category this year for sure - even with a list.  I didn't even have wrapped gifts.  I got to "open" my gifts from their shopping bags with the price tags still on them.   Confused

    Oh Witty, that's a bummer.

I feel guilty writing this after reading about your crumby experience but I had the most amazing Christmas. I got really spoiled. The Mr got me the Urban Decay Naked palette that I have been wanting for ages and a Best Buy gift card to go towards my present to myself, a Canon T2i! My parents spolied me a bit to and gave me moccasins and curling tickets as well as lots of fun but practical things. Everyone in my family was a little spoiled this year and my sister was home for Chrismas for the first time in 2 years so everyone was in a great mood. It was wonderful.

  • Don't feel bad.  I think DH knows that he majorly goofed/botched this year and that he doesn't get to do that again...ever.  I'm glad other people had a much less grinchy year!  If everyone had a bummer year, that'd just be bad all around.
  • I got spoiled too - DH got me a Canon Rebel t2i that I've been eyeing for EVER! Completely surprised me with it, I had no idea. Plus a bunch of accessories for it - extra battery pack/grip, big SD card. His parents even got in on the fun and got me a camera bag. I told him he's never allowed to complain about my photo-taking habit again ;-)

  • DH and I didnt get each other much this yr. Our lil man on the other hand was in heaven when he saw that Santa brought him a train table with all kinds of trains and a bunch of other stuff to go with it. He loves it soo much.

We LOVE our Vitamix.  My parents gave us one for Christmas and birthdays last year and I was sure it would start collecting dust by the summer but we still use it ALL the time.  Our favorite lately has been "salad shakes" -- and orange or two, a carrot or two and an insane amount of spinach/kale/chard/etc...  THE best way to get a ton of veggies.

I got the dish set from my parents that my mom bought me at an auction earlier this year and a massage from MIL.  Those were my favorites for sure.  DH & I didn't exchange gifts because of our Israel trip.

It was a great holiday but we were BEAT yesterday.  I stayed in bed reading until almost 1pm then I was out before 10!  I'm back at work today and while I'm being productive, I wouldn't have minded one more day off.  But I suppose that's always the case.  Smile

  • DH got me a Chandler the Robot necklace, which is strange to most people, but has significance to us to do my extreme fan-girlness of the band the woman who makes then was in a few years back. I had an idea he was getting me one because I was so excited when I found her blog. The crafter also sent a signed card along with it, which I thought was really sweet.

He got brownie points for also getting me a really pretty locket that is shaped like a book and has a bird on it (my two favorite things), and putting a picture of our LO in it as well as our now deceased first baby, our dog Norton.

The highlight of the day was seeing my LO's face when he saw his little tykes Cozy Coupe! He was as excited as I'd hoped he would be and has only stopped playing with it to eat and sleep. I'm very thankful we had some extra elves around on Christmas eve to put that thing together!
