Which photoshop?

What is the best photo shop software to get for photo editing and digital scrapbooking? I am a beginner but I also don't want to out grow the software as I learn how to use it. What does everyone here use?

Re: Which photoshop?

  • Photo Shop Elements is really the one you want, if you're not dealing professionally with graphics or photography. GIMP is a free open source program that can do many of the things PS CS# can do, but, both CS# and GIMP are a lot to bite off if you're completely new to layer editing programs. Since GIMP will cost you nothing, though- you can certainly DL it and give it a spin- but, Elements will likely be all you'll ever need.

I agree. I've taught myself how to use PS (I have CS3 on my computer, I know CS5 is out now and I'm sure CS6 will be out soon so I can be further behind) and it's fairly easy to learn, but it's more than most casual users need.

  • I had a free trial of Photo Shop Elements a while back and enjoyed the program. I would like to purchase it in the future when I have a better computer.

  • You can also download Picasa for free from google.  It has quite a few free options too.
