What are your goals/hopes for 2012?

I can't wait to put 2011 away on a shelf and move on to 2012. I always write a list of goals/hopes/dreams for the upcoming year and I've been thinking about what to put on the list this time. So I'm curious, what is on your list?

Re: What are your goals/hopes for 2012?

  • One of my goals is to get our own garden up and running and complete our backyard.

I/we will continue to save up for IVF

Pay off my car by this time next year.  I am so close I can taste it. Imagine what I can do with that extra $$ instead of going towards a car!

  • Nothing major, just trying to continue to maintain the happiness that I feel lately, use my new crockpot and start a garden come spring. And to keep my stress level low.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

  • My goals are to graduate and go on to Grad School, and to pay off our debt.

My hopes are that I get to be the best aunt ever (oh yeah, I have to tell you guys! My brother and his SO are expecting a little boy in April. I can't wait to be an aunt!). I also hope and pray for the health of Micah and all of my Godkids.

  • Oof, this has been a craptastic year for us, too. I just want DH's health to not be a concern as it has been the last few months and for me to get a job. At this point, we don't know whether we will stay in L.A. after our lease is up at the end of June because with DH's health it seems he won't be able to do comedy at the level he'd hoped (tour, etc). And since it's even much more difficult to get teaching jobs in this area than in the Bay Area, well... I have mixed feelings about all of it. I would (and he too) be happy to be back in the Bay Area near his family and pretty much all our friends but giving up his dream and one of the very few things he could do to bring in an income makes me sad. It would be very difficult for him, of course. He could still do it locally as a hobby but not as a career path. And, with his health, he couldn't do any FT job or most PT jobs. So he would feel useless. The only positive idea we've discussed is the idea of him being a stay at home dad with help from his mom (esp if he needed to be in bed) while I work. Obviously if we could make that work, it would be wonderful since we've wanted to adopt for years. But how we would afford to w/o more income, I don't know. Anyway, like I said at this point we just want to get him healthy. And if I don't get a job before our lease is up, we could end up having to move in with his mom. Not a fun prospect but there's not much we can do. So I hope I get a job either here on back in the Bay Area by the middle of the summer.
  • I hope for a good year health wise for all of my family and friends.

I can't wait to see what milestones Rose will reach in 2012. It should be fun!

I hope to adopt a kitty some time in January because Bear has been super lonely lately. I think he has had enough time to process Mickey's death.

I dream of becoming a homeowner, but know it will not happen in 2012. Realistically it should happen late 2013/early 2014.

  • Find a new, stable job that I enjoy, that pays decent and has health coverage.

Pay off my car next summer.

    Work out more (duh).

Plant more stuff in our yard, and keep the stuff there alive.

Take a real vacation with DH.

Do some writing on my own.

  • Mine are:

    1) Have a piece of chocolate every week. You've earned it!

    2) Continuing to love yourself...you're awesome, so why not?

    3) Speaking of why not, instead of saying no, try "why not?" sometimes.

    4) The gym is just a couple of feet from you. Make use of it.

    5) Set aside time for YOU.

  • Haven't thought too much about it yet, but this is the start of my list:

-Work really hard, career-wise.  I am going back to work full time after nearly a year of maternity leave.

-Present at the next pharmacy conference

-Be super organized so I can maximize the QT with my family

-Continue to keep in touch with the people I love and that really matter to me

-Try not to stress out too much

  • Move out of our neighborhood into a nicer house in a nicer area.

    Start a family.

Promote to the next position up in my office.

    Lose 30 pounds.

Go on a tropical vacation! ;)

  • Babies, one way or another.

Get my knee fixed and run at least one half marathon.

    See my sister get married.

    Go to Thailand and Cambodia.

    Be more social.

    Learn more Japanese.

    Read more books.

Organize our house and keep it that way.

  • I've had a lot of hopes and dreams throughout the year, but my one big hope/dream came true this year so I feel pretty spoiled. For 2012, my hopes seem pretty simple:

    1. Pay off CC debt and keep it down/off and be more financially responsible.

    2. Continue to participate in my 30 before 30 activities.

    3. Find a possible apartment option in Texas.

    4. Take a vacation with J.
