I am having my parents and sister over for supper on NY Day. I am thinking my best bet is to put something in the slow cooker since we'll be at a NYE party the night before and it's the Mr's year to drive haha. My go to is usually pulled pork but i'd like to try something new for a change. Anyone have any favorites that would be good for 5 people?
Re: Slow Cooker Favorites?
Hahaha... before I finished reading, I was going to suggest our favorite pork recipe! I'll throw it out there anyway, since it's a little different - http://www.skinnytaste.com/2011/10/crock-pot-asian-pork-with-mushrooms.html.
Our other favorite crockpot meal is a chili recipe DH and i came up with years ago. It's so good. The spices can be adjusted to your heat tolerance. I top it with shredded cheese and sour cream. It makes a ton, even with five people you'll have leftovers!
If chicken sounds good, we really like this one. Just make some rice and steamed veggies and you're set for dinner. I usually only put a couple tablespoons of oil and water in place of the rest of the called for 1/3 cup. I also don't bother to remove the skin most of the time. If I'm home, I'll pour some of the juices over the chicken a few times during the cooking process. I'm not sure if that makes it better or if it's just a habit.

MY BLOG!
This one was on our "slow cooker" cookbook on facebook and seemed to get good feedback.
All Day Salsa ChickenBoneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 jar chunky salsa
1 can cream of chicken soup
Grease inside of crockpot, add chicken
Mix together salsa and soup
Pour over chicken (I sometimes add some at the bottom first then add the chicken and pour the rest over it)
Cook on low 6-8 hours
Serve over rice pilaf
I forgot about the facebook cookbook!
