I know Christmas isn't about the gifts, but they're so much fun.
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about? (bonus for pip)
What was the most thoughtful gift?
What did you enjoy giving the most?
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.
Re: OK, what'd ya get?
1. A brand spanking new crockpot. Can't wait to start using it.
2. It's a toss up: A pair of earrings my sister found a while ago that made her think of me. They're fair trade and came on cardboard that the sales clerks are instructed to take off and recycle before giving the jewelry to the customer. Interesting, no?
Also, dh got me a pretty little diamond necklace. He found it online and ducked out with his mom on Christmas Eve to go get it. He waited til his parents left and then put the package on the table until I noticed it a while later. So cute.
3. Probably the iPad we got FIL. It was fun teaching him how to use it.
While I appreciate all I got, I don't think any of it was done with a lot of thought put in this year. I got this from my mom because I asked for it. It completes my collection. Actually, it is kind of special because she and I are in the DVD extras. 2 years ago we went to Toronto with a group of fans and were given a tour of filming site(s) of Avonlea. That tour is on the DVD extras so we are in it for posterity.
The rest was gift cards/money. DH is still looking for something to get me actually. Whatever I get from DH's family where we do Secret Santa will be something I asked for.

I'll play
1. I was really excited (and surprised) to get my Uggs Bailey Bow boots from my Huz. They are so warm and cozy, and I love them.
(let's see if I remember how to PIP)
2. Recently, I restablished a relationship with my birth-father. We are slowly (and sometimes awkwardly) trying to figure out how this grown up father/daughter relationship works. I saw him on Christmas Eve, and he gave me a beautiful cupcake necklace from Betsey Johnson. He was really proud that he picked it out himself. I think it's so sweet.
3. I know it's so silly, but I really liked giving my IL's dog his enormous meaty bone (lol, that sounds so funny!) on Christmas. I swear his eyes widened, and he almost teared up from excitement when I took it out to him. It was hilarious!
I just made the same post on another board, Passanie, disclaimer and all, haha!
Hannah, that's so cool that you're in the DVD extras given what a big fan you are! I hope the new year brings you and yours all manner of health and happiness.
moosie, both your birth father and doggie gift stories made me go, "Awww!"
I got some pretty awesome stuff from my family:
some iPad accessories
bluetooth headset for my phone
amethyst earrings
Harmony interchangeable circular knitting needles
yoga gift certificate
I'm feeling very grateful and chock full of fun new toys to play with!
I had a good Christmas and I am glad no one went over the top (even DH).
-I got gift cards to Kohl's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Sephora and Target.
-Speaking of Target-the gift cards total over $100 so I am going to treat myself to something. Probably an ipod shuffle for when I work out. Also some things for the house too.
Oh and I got this: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}

Love my sequin Uggs
My MIL gave me a freshwater pearl necklace that she brought from Hawaii, and my mom picked out a sweater she thought I might like.
I loved giving my mom her Kindle. She was so excited, but also skeptical. She kept asking if that was really what was in the box, or if we just used a kindle box to wrap something else. I also enjoyed giving my aunt's family the Planet Earth series. I was worried it was a weird gift, but the 10 year old cousin was so excited that he couldn't stop talking about it.
to add to my kitchen gadet collection .... a big kid food processor (10 cup) w/ an interchangable 6 cup blender !
h got a Roki .... we're in love w/ it !!!!
DH spoiled me this year with an iPad, Uggs, and some other small stuff. My mom got me a nice watch. Also got some gift cards, perfume, table topics game, running shirt.
All the gifts would fit into most thoughtful because my family purchased and gifted them to me. (Cheesy, I know.)
My sister and I (along with our DH's) gave our mom an iPad. We FaceTimed when she opened it (my sister is in MA and my mom was up there for Xmas). She was shocked!!
I was really spoiled this year - I got a Coach bag, matching Coach iPad cover, iPod touch (most thoughtful), Canon t3i camera (super super excited for this!), Nikon P&S camera, grey pea coat, and 14 credits to Shoedazzle.
I was most excited to give my mom her iPod touch - she's been stuck in the stone ages!
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about? (bonus for pip) Got surprised with an Amazon Kindle from my husband. I had a hunch he was going to get it for me but wasn't completely sure.
What was the most thoughtful gift? My boss gave me two books for the baby - even though we have months & months to go, it was very thoughtful to share two of her daughters favorite books from when she was an infant. One was Goodnight Moon and I completely forgot what the other one is called, hah.
What did you enjoy giving the most? probably two video games for my husband...he assumed they were movies but when he opened it up, his face was priceless, ha-ha. I also enjoyed giving one of my cousins a sewing handbook; she's been turning into quite a seamstress.IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about? (bonus for pip) DH bought me a new pair of cross-trainers for the gym. I was excited because my old ones give me foot cramps and these are particularly spiffy looking:
What was the most thoughtful gift? DH got me 5 months' worth of gift certificates to various restaurants so we could go on a date every month for 5 months (I'm not sure why he stopped at 5, but whatever).
What did you enjoy giving the most? I got DH the Beatles' #1 album set on vinyl. Although it is nearly 10 years old, I found a mint-condition one with the store plastic still on it. He was SO excited about it, because it came with a poster set and all he could say was "I've read about these but I've never actually seen one in the wild." Very gratifying as a gift.
(Also, he totally thought it was a calendar until he opened it, which was also gratifying.)
(Edited to fix giant photo of shoes. Sorry about that.)
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about?
Kindle Touch
What was the most thoughtful gift? DH gave me a necklace with three hearts representing our family of three.
What did you enjoy giving the most? The photobooks I made for Rose to give to her grandparents
I was excited about the gift BIL and his girlfriend gave us: They donated a bike to a needy child in our name. That also fits under most thoughtful for us.
We only gave gifts to our young nieces: Four children's books that I picked out. I like watching them open those and look through them. I loved reading as a kid and I hope they enjoy it as much as I do. One of them took one of the books to her mom, sat in her lap and started reading in the middle of opening presents It was cute. Still, hard to compete with numerous toys they get from their grandparents.
the gift i loved the most was the juicy bag that the hubs got me..it's sparkly, it's big..and it's so pretty.
oh i also love the juicy case he got me for my iphone too
(only i got the black one)
most thoughtful...has got to be the silverware my parents got me. we needed it badly.
i really enjoyed giving my hubby his ps3..he was like a little kid opening that gift..lol
also pretty much everything i gave my daughter, her reaction is always priceless..especially to anything justin bieber..lol
OH but i think my absolute fave was giving my mom the complete series to The Three Stooges. it is her ALL time favorite show..she says she always remembers when she first came here from mexico and first watching that show, she was hooked!
also...because it cracks me up for like 10 minutes everytime i see it. my kitty winston. i swear..he'd leave it on for like 10 mintes before he cared he even had it on.. LOL
super cute!
i got corina a betsey johnson necklace too.....
this one, since she's into photography
also..i'm glad you are re-establishing a relationship with your birth dad. AND the dog bone story cracked me up! lol
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about? (bonus for pip) My new zipper foot for my sewing machine
What was the most thoughtful gift? My mom sent me about 6 bottles of nail polish and a bottle of remover. I never buy that kind of stuff for myself.
What did you enjoy giving the most? All the photo calendars to our families of DSThank you, I needed that laugh
I love this!
how sweet!
IUI #1 10/12/11 (Bravelle + HCG + Prometrium & acupuncture) = 10/26 BFP! Beta #1=250, Beta #2= 615. 1st u/s 11/8.
Yeah it was awesome!
So what did you get that you were particularly excited about? (bonus for pip)
I got a pair of beautiful earrings from E that are blue sapphires with little diamonds around them. A drill that is small enough for me to use, a plastic rake because I hate the one E bought and so he bought me one I like so I could help rake leaves too! Silly but cute. A doxie puppy calendar to go with my current obsession over them. I got a bunch of fun cook books from MIL and an immersion blender that I was so badly wanting!
What was the most thoughtful gift? Probably the nail care set from BIL. He did is own shopping and I was shocked that he thought of that as something to get me but I'll most diffidently use it!
Oh and another thoughtful "gift" was our new puppy. Dad found her and paid the adoption fees for us. He really wanted us to get another doxie since we have been talking about it for a while. I'm so glad he and my mom's bff found this sweet little girl for us. She is the prefect fit for our family.
What did you enjoy giving the most? I enjoyed giving everything we gave. I put a lot of care and concern into the gifts I buy so it makes it so special to give each one!
I think my favorite was my Dad opening his new wallet. It was so cute, I had wrapped it in tissue paper and placed it in a box with the shirts we bought him. He didn't even get the tissue paper off and said " just want I wanted! thanks for listening!" It was really fun.
The gift I was most excited about is between two:
1. The Le Creuset pieces J got me in Cassis (purple) - my favorite color! I got the 5 qt Dutch Oven, the skillet grill pan and the 10inch oval baking dish.
2. A black peacoat. I've been wanting one for so long and I finally got one!
The most thoughtful gift I got was a sewing machine from my mom. I've been saying one of the 30 before 30 on my list I'm looking forward to the most was learning to sew with a sewing machine so I can hem things, make small gifts and make Scarlett's Halloween costumes. So she got me a Singer sewing machine and a gift card to JoAnn's so I can start learning.
The gift J and I both enjoyed giving the most is a locket to my mom. It's gold with a mother of pearl flower on the front. We put Scarlett's picture in one side and the other I wrote " I Love You Grandma" in really small writing on paper. She started crying when she saw it.
DH surprised me with a new wine fridge! He got it for free from a client whose house he worked on (construction), but it's almost brand new and gorgeous! Bonus was that it was FREE and since we live on a small budget, a free, nice and useful gift is so wonderful.
The most thoughtful gift was probably the boots my parents got me. Even though we went together to pic kthem out, and they weren't a surprise, I really love them. Especially since my mom has been hurt with her back lately, and she made the effort to take me shopping and get me something she knows I really wanted.
I always enjoy giving the kids in the family their gifts. I got them all things I think they loved, and even though I didn't get to watch some of them open them, I hope they liked them.
