Sudafed?

I just sent DH to the store to pick up some Sudafed for me (I'm totally congested, damned cold!!) and he just texted to say he can't find it. I have a feeling the pharmacy at that store is closed. Is this one of those "it's behind the counter to make sure you don't buy it and make illegal drugs" things? Or is he just looking in the wrong spot? Help - my nose is driving me batty!!!

Re: Sudafed?

  • A quick search online shows some articles saying it's now behind the counter. Perhaps he can find something else similar to Sudafed, or go to another pharmacy that would be open late?

    Hope you'll feel better soon!

  • Yeah, that's what they ended up telling him at the store. :( Ah well, I'll take NyQuil tonight and pick some Sudafed up on my way to work in the morning. Thanks. :)
  • Yup, it would be a behind-the-counter drug b/c it's abused to make methamphetamines.  Sorry you aren't feeling so well.  Get better soon.

Right. There are certain types of Sudafed without those ingredients that are still sold on shelves. But most of the OTC drugs containing pseudoephedrine or similar active ingredients are now sold at the pharmacy counter only. They limit how many boxes you can buy at a time and usually ask for ID so they can keep track of who's buying what.

    Exactly.

  • Yes, you are right.  I was giving the super simple answer.  Sorry...your friendly pharmacist :)
