USO/1940s gala ideas?
i belong to a big organization that will be throwing a 1940s/USO themed black tie event in January.
i am cruising google images searching for ideas. so far, sailor hats, old fashioned microphones and swing dancing seem to be key to this theme....curious what others might think of . specifically looking for centerpiece and decor ideas .

This is going to sound crazy, but rent American Girl on the Home Front: Molly's Story. The last part of the movie is an awesome USO-style party with period-correct decorations.
What about the end of White Christmas where all the soldiers and their wives come to the inn to surprise the general? I have no idea what centerpieces there are, but it's worth a look.
The rest of the movie will have '40s and '50s style centerpieces since so many scenes are in fancy night clubs. Holiday Inn is worth a look for the same reason.
