About 4 months ago we decided to start tackling our small amount of debt. Set up a plan and it should be paid off by Feb so we could do some home improvemnet project and start TTC. Well since then I got in a car accident and had to pay our deductable and a really expensive ticket/court costs, DH had 2 tires blow and had to get new tires, G had to get imaging tests on her foot, and I ended up in the emergency room on christmas. All of this counteracted everything we have paid off in the last 4 months and depleted most of our savings to pay for these things, plus some had to go on credit cards. Then to top it off I found out I need to get my gallbladder out and my car needs new tires ASAP.
We used my bonus to pay for christmas/shopped through the year and stuck to a pretty strick budget. We also used a few hundred from savings to go St. Louis this summer to see my family. At this point I regret spending as much as we did at christmas and taking our small vacation, because we could have used it pay stuff off. We sat down last night and everything will not likely be paid off until september now. I really feel like we just cannot get ahead and as soon as we start to make progress something happens that puts us two steps back.
Re: just can't get ahead. (rant)
I know what you mean. (hugs)
DH and I looked at our budget for next year, and it doesn't look pretty
I really wanted to take a vacation, but I don't think that is going to happen.

Please don't say that you shouldn't have take an vacation though. It's really important to do fun things in your life and enjoy the present. It's not like you went on a trip around the world and spent an outrageous amount of money. Things just happen and you sound like you are dealing with them very responsibly.
Good luck with the Gall Bladder Surgery.
Ditto this! Family is a gift and time with them is something you can not buy. You will get closer to paying everything off one month at a time, just don't give up. I admire that you have a plan! Keep it up.
