bday party question

DS will be one in April.  He has the same birthday as my dad.  I was thinking of renting a hall in my dad's hometown and hosting a bday party for the two of them Easter weekend (the birthday weekend).  I am from a HUGE family so there could by 100 + people there.

I was just going to provide the meat and ask on the invite in lieu of a gift pls bring a side to share. Remember this is family and very small town.

Does the seem tacky?  My mom thinks since it is Easter people will be expecting an easter like meal (ham, ect)  I was thinking slopply joes or pulled pork.

What do the nesties think?  Worth the hassle or not?

Re: bday party question

  • Mmmm...pulled pork sounds delish right now!  I'd totally be fine with that!  And if I were in your family, I wouldn't be offended in the least if asked to bring a side instead of a gift (although I still might bring a litle gift/book for the birthday kiddo).
  • sounds fine to me, if it was on easter day then yes, easter meal but friday or saturday I think pulled pork is fine and easy. And I would have no problem bringing a dish to share.
