That's awesome that there is another x-ray tech on the board. Where do you work?  Did you do your schooling around here?

Re: **MrsAbraham**

  • I just now saw your post! I work for Concentra, its a work comp/ urgent care clinic. There's actually 7 clinics here in KC, and I am the area lead x-ray tech. I went to school at Sanford Brown, it changed to Colorado Technical University the semester I graduated.

    What about yourself?

  • I just graduated from Avila in '07.  While I was searching for a job, a temp service sent me to an interview at the Independence (I believe) Concentra.
That didn't work out for me.

I currently work at St. Joseph medical center.  I did my clinicals there for school and just had to wait it out for a full-time position.  I worked PRN there for quite some time before I finally got a job.

  • You may have interviewed at the other work comp clinic, OHS, in Independance. We don't actually have a clinic there, but they do. I actually interviewed there through an agency too... I turned it down. They weren't near as nice as the Concentra. The place was old & had really old equipment.

I am spoiled in my clinic though! I haven't done a flouro exam or portable exam for a few years, so I would probably panic in  a hopsital now! I work with an ortho, neurosurgeon, and physiatrist, so I am used to doing all ortho & spinal stuff!

  • I thought I hated all aspects of the hospital setting...fluoro, surgery, icky inpatients, etc.  Now that I am a couple years into it and actually working, I think I would miss the diversity. My dream job is to be in an ortho clinic, but again I don't know if I would like JUST doing ortho.

Now that you say that, I think it was OHS not concentra.  I have seen concentra mentioned in a couple ads, I believe.
