madame

just to give you a little hope, sil's h was really, really bad at gift giving early in their marriage. they have been married ten years or so and he is totally different now. i guess it's just something he had to learn. so hopefully not all is lost. and btw your h sounds just like my mom. she asked what i wanted and i sent a link to a yoga bag on etsy and she sent a yoga bag from gaiaim. i also asked for a book of affirmations and she said in her explanation "i didn't think you would want just a book of quotes" (i did). she sent a book with an uplifting story instead - that i had already read. oh well!

Re: madame

  • Haha, thanks! H was a GREAT gift giver, whether it was something he made or something he bought. And then we got married. I think it's because he used to overspend and got himself into a lot of debt (which we're still working on!) Which is why we set a limit for gifts, etc. This year he came in under our limit so I guess that's good..... Anyway, hopefully once he's in a better job and contributing more to our joint income he'll be better at it again.

Or I'll just start buying my own gifts.... Wink

  • In your husbands defense. I asked for the same earrings you did from my mom. She got me different ones too. She claims they were sold out on Macy's website. I don't love the ones that she got me like the other ones but they are cute enough.

well then yeah, being frugal is definitely more important. and as long as he tried (and buys from a place that has a good return policy), it's not so bad. my dad, no joke, used to give my mom kitchen gadgets and things that he really wanted for himself. it was so rude. they're not together anymore. LOL
