Recommend your handheld vac (or tell me ones to avoid!)
I've had a Dyson Root 6 for about 2 years and LOVED it until recently. The battery seems to charge some, but there is either a bad connection with the charger or with the battery and the unit itself. Either way, it totally sucks (rather...it doesn't! lol)
I am skeptical of all other handhelds since I was so in love with my Root 6. I'm looking for cordless, rechargeable, and strong/long lasting.
TIA!

I love my shark Pet perfect hand vac. I was looking for something that was small and could be used on our steps daily in between weekly cleanings. We have cats and their hair gets everywhere. It has been great and so far I have not needed to use my large Dyson weekly like I had originally planned. The first time I used it the steps had several days worth of hair and it worked fine. http://www.amazon.com/Shark-SV780-VX33-18-0-Cordless/dp/B0037HHFMO
As for your Dyson if the Root has a 5-year Warranty like their regular vacuums call Dyson. We had an issue with our vac. and Dyson had us take it to a local place that fixed it for us.
funny- i was coming in here to recommend the Root 6
We have one- and the battery isn't charging right lately - DH looked it up and to buy a new battery is like $80.... which is still cheaper than the new unit- but i hate to put that money out there for a damn battery... so we just use it 1/2 assed now until it's totally gone.
It is awesome- i have never had another hand held work that well - we use it daily to suck up dog hair, kid messe, etc.
