I saw something like this on the Flora Grubb Nursery website and thought they looked really cool, so I decided to make my own to give as gifts. I think they came out really pretty! I beaded the hanging cord to catch the light better when hung in a window. I gave them to my MIL, SIL and SIL's MIL for Christmas...and kept one for myself

Thanks guys! I had a lot of fun making them and they were pretty easy. I didn't use a tutorial, just kind of figured it out as I went. The glass ornaments are hanging candle holders and vases from CB2 (very cheap, less than $5 each, and they have lots of other cool ones that would work). I got a large succulent at a local nursery and broke off a few of the "babies" and let the ends soak in water for a little while. I used tigertail beading wire like this for the hanging cord and strung some pretty glass and semi-precious beads on it. Then I used a small spoon to put a bit of cactus mix into the bottom, added a little bit of water and nestled the succulent baby in with chopsticks. Then I spooned some pumice stones over the soil and spritzed the inside with some water to clean the dirt off the sides of the glass, and voila! I have one hanging in my kitchen window and I'm planning to make a couple more to hang in the bathroom window. I wanted to use air plants and decorative moss, but I couldn't find the air plants anywhere in time.
