Re: QOTD Thursday

  • NYE plans, hahaha--that's funny. ;)

I think we'll just be staying inside, getting some Chinese food, and maybe try some of the new xbox games that DH got for Christmas. We'll also be drinking at least one of the many bottles of champagne we still have from when the LOs were born (about 15 people brought us champagne, and we still haven't finished it all yet). I doubt we'll make it until midnight. I'll be happy if we make it to 11pm.

  • We're headed to OBX tomorrow through Monday.  Given that it's the off season, we were able to get one of the weekly rentals in Kill Devil Hills for only three nights at a pretty good price.  We're going with four friends and mainly just plan on hanging out, relaxing, and drinking.  We'll cook a fancy (for us) dinner on NYE, but probably won't go out anywhere.

  • My BFF and her family gets in tonight, so on NYE we'll just be drinking at home.  We plan on having appetizers and more champagne than imaginable :)

I turn 30 on New Years Day, so I need to drown my sorrows Crying

  • not sure yet . . .

we usually do an early dinner and then come home for movies, cava and dessert. and more cava. last year, both of us were sick so we maybe had a glass between us. we'll make up for it this year.

  • We haven't figured it out yet. DH's friends are having a family friendly GTG. However, we can't really bring the girls unless we want to leave at 7pm. Getting a babysitter is a possibility but my birthday is tomorrow and so the higher priority is getting a babysitter for tomorrow night so we can go to dinner. So, I told DH that if his parents can't watch the kids on NYE, then I'll just stay home with them and he can go to the party. Honestly, going to bed around 9pm and getting a good night's rest would make it a pretty good NYE for me.

  • we'd planned to go out for dinner with two couple friends as we have done for the past several years, but we are lacking a sitter this year. :(

one of the sets of friends is having a kid-friendly party so we'll probably do that, then head home by 9 so the kids can get to bed at a reasonable hour.

we have a nice bottle of bubbly we've been saving for the occasion. hopefully, we'll last until midnight.

  • I think we will stay home with a nice bottle of champagne.  Some friends want us to go over to their house, but they live in Bowie and I have no desire whatsoever to drive all the way there and then come back to Manassas after midnight, so I don't think we will go.

  • We're hosting one set of OOT friends for the long weekend.  As a group, we are having dinner at my house on NYE and then gathering at another friend's house NY Day for football and playing on the beach (Lake Barcroft).
  • We're supposed to go over to the IL's for dinner.  Then DH's sister is coming to hang out at our house because the IL's plan on having adult time.  Quite frankly I'm sure it involves something illegal but I'm not putting my nose in the middle of that.  SIL is 25 or so and really has no friends to hang out w/ so her and DH will spend the night playing PS3 and I'll just go to bed.  Talk about some good ole fashioned fun.  Blah...

  • no idea.  we could go to the beach, we could go to NY.  I think just stay home sounds about right :)
  • Our tradition for the past few years has been to make a great dinner - crab cakes, filet mignon, baked potatoes, shrimp and watch some movies and drink to excess. We'll probably do all of that (and watch Harry Potter DH2!!! Finally!) except drink to excess. I'll stop after one beer because chances are very good that I'll have to get up overnight with the boy.

  • No idea. We were just talking about it last night. We might go to our friend's bar, which is a pretty low-key place most of the time, so hopefully it will be even on NYE. If we don't do that, maybe just go out for dinner then come home for a movie and drinking the prosecco we had for Christmas but didn't drink!
  • We are completely undecided. We had planned to stay home, but since we had such a crappy Christmas (stomach virus) I am really antsy to get out. We have three open invites right now - two are kid-friendly, one is not. I'm leaning towards the non-kiddy option if we can find a willing grandparent to babysit.
  • We'll be at my parents' house for a low-key NYE. We'll have some champagne and snacks, and I will probably go to bed before midnight.

  • We don't have any plans.  Maybe we'll cook a nice meal and watch a movie On Demand.  I'm most excited about another 3-day weekend.

  • We're going out to dinner and then heading home for champagne and movies. Happy 2012!
  • I second kafunder's chuckle....

After our Christmas cooking extravaganza last weekend, we're scrapping our fancy dinner cooking plans and we'll probably do takeout.

UVA is playing Auburn in the Peach Bowl so we'll be watching that. Go Wahoos!! Other than that, a few drinks with H and trying to stay awake until midnight. I didn't make it last year.

  • We're going to the Kennedy Center for the first time to see Shear Madness, then staying for their afterparty. I'm really looking forward to it, since we just stayed home last year. I want to go out and take advantage of being child-free while we can (not that we're planning on having kids soon, but there may be only 2 or 3 more NYEs with just the two of us).
  • Going to bed before midnight?   We have a 6 am on New Years Day so I doubt we will be celebrating any on New Years Eve.
  • Going out in Arlington for a low key dinner and drinking at a bar. We did this last year in the District and it was fun, but decided this year that we'll just go out in Arlington so the cab ride home is cheaper :)

  • We have some good friends we know from our days back in kickball. 12 of us are going to dinner in Clarendon and then going to another kickball friend's party. Should be fun!
