New Years Eve vent..

I am so over NYE.. maybe because I'm pregnant so I don't feel the need to party my a$$ off this year, but we're just trying to go to a nice dinner with friends, nothing too fancy but not like Applebee's either.. and it seems like everywhere I look has a prix fixe menu that's at least $50 per person.. usually more.  Last year we got lucky and found this habachi place that was brand new so they were doing a 2 for 1 entree deal for NYE in order to build their business, and it was totally awesome because we got a table for 12 of us and spent very little money but had a great time.  This year obviously that restaurant isn't doing that again since they aren't new anymore..

I just wish restaurants wouldn't try to take advantage of everyone during the holidays ... or at least why can't they offer a prix fixe menu and a regular menu for people who don't need/want 5 courses.

Has anyone found somewhere in Pinellas (preferrably near Feathersound area) that is serving regular menu for New Years and takes reservations??  Recs appreciated.

  • We went to Antonio's Pasta Grille on Ulmerton last year for NYE dinner.  It was regular menu, regular prices.  Give them a try, their food is good!

  • I'm with you, Shawna! I want to do a dinner and drinks but all my friends want to party it up in downtown and I am just not up for it. But I have friends in town and I know I will end up doing whatever they decide :/

I don't know of anything other than Melting Pot has a $55 dinner but that is from 2-5 or 10-close. The 5-10PM dinner is $75.

Venue, right outside of Feathersound, is having a $75 dinner which includes champagne. Although it is pricey that would be ideal for me but my friends/husband aren't down for that.

I would almost rather just stay home and order a bunch of takeout and drink champagne until we fall asleep but that's not happening either!

If you find anything decent, let me know  :):):)

This is exactly what we do! It rocks.

Lol. I am JEALOUS! Seriously. I just have this one friend who lives in ATL and last time she was in town I couldn't go out with them so I promised NYE. Not sure what I was thinking, but there is no backing out now. Blaahhhhh!!!!

  • I don't have any recs but if you feel like I did last NYE, you are not even going to want to be awake at midnight. It took every ounce of energy that I had to stay up that late.

We were invited to a neighbors for NYE but I think we may steal your idea. I would love nothing more than to just sit at home with DH and L :)

  • FWIW, last NYE, I passed out at 9 PM.  I set my alarm for midnight.  I punched FI on the arm at midnight, sleepily said, "Happy New Year." And then went right back to sleep.  This year, I just won't have FI next to me.
  • Thanks for the Antonio's rec Regina.. that is right down the street from our friends hosue so it would be convenient.  I will check them out.

I would be all for just chilling at home but we have a couple of friends coming in town so I feel like we have to do something since they are driving up here.

And yes, Chelsea, I could easily be asleep by 9pm .. but I can probably hang til midnight if I'm around people.  I just will be ready to be done at 12:01.  :)

  • I am not even joking when I say that at 12:02, I was walking out of the party that we were at, and in my bed by 12:10. I was sooo exhausted. lol. It helped having 2 other pregnant girls fighting to stay awake with me.
