I'm guessing today is going to be slow :-( I'm at work until 5.
Re: TGIF
I'll be here till 5 too.
It's going to be really slow at work, but I'm stuck here.
TGIF is RIGHT! I have been so tired this week.
I'm here until noon.
This morning I saw a car with a bumper sticker that said, "Powered by Chuck Norris." It made me smile.
I just got my last pay stub of the year. I earned 170.53 PTO hours in 2011. That's more than 4 weeks! That's pretty sweet.
I love that my company offers 8 hours of PTO as incentives for things around here.
I'm here until noon. (didn't find this out until 5:00 yesterday
)
Molly, that is awesome about your PTO! Are you allowed to cash part of it in at the end of the year?
Wop, when do you find out who one the contest. Your Jalapeno Spread sounds delish!
I'm super tired today. Miss Gemma was having a lot of trouble with her latch last night and it took quite awhile to nurse her leaving me time for little sleep between feedings. Yawn!
Hope that you can get a nap in today
I'm not sure. Probably around 11:00 considering we're only here until noon.
Aw. I remember those kinds of nights :-( I hope you're able to nap today.
Yes, we are allowed to cash it out anytime as long as we leave 50 hours in the bank. My problem is that I use all of my PTO, so I never have enought to cash it out. I'll take time off over money any day.
Hope you can get a few naps in today!
There is a house down the road from one of my rentals for sale for $4,160.
I'm not sure I'd take the house if they gave it to me for free. The entire house needs to be redone. Quite a project. I wonder if anyone will ever be up for it...
What, no beer?! What happened there?
Might be worth it to buy it just for the property then rebuild?
I decided against it. LOL. Plus the dip was cheaper to make than buying beer for eveyone in the office.
There is another 2 unit for sale in a neighbohood closer to my other rental for sale at $24,900. The listing claims that both units are rented out for a total of $1,075 income.
That is crazy to me. That house could be paid off in 23 months based solely on rental income.
It's not a buildable lot.
Sad. I bet they just knock it down.
Hehe. Beer would have been awesome. But the dip you made sounds fantastic.
Haha. Last week (or the week before?) when Renee was sick and I was home with her, I looked at houses for fun. It actually made me appreciate my house SO much more. When I see houses and what would need to be done in order for it to be the way I wanted it, all I would see is $$$$. I did see one house that was amazing and not overly expensive. It had everything I wanted for $160k. Too bad I'm going to live in my current house until the market comes back, even if I have to live there for the next 30 years. I refuse to sell and lose money. Plus, I genuinely like the house, especially the neighborhood.
It's fun to dream, isn't it?
It always amazes me when I see pictures of houses for sale. I think to myself, "People actually live(d) like that?". It's eye-opening, for sure.
I love being surprised too. Seeing a really ugly house on the outside, but a gorgeous house on the inside - fun.
The 2-unit I mentioned earlier has this great stone fireplace.
Oh how I love character. (The house I live in has NONE.)
So pretty! NMS, but I can definitely appreciate it.
G'morning
I'm feeling kind of blah today, My throat is still on fire and a cough and headache have joined the party, Lovely.
We are going back to the other side of the state tonight, I won't be back until mid April
so i'm sad about that. But at least there will be more to do then,
That's crazy about the price of that home.B and I hope to start looking for a house late next year. D&MJ, are you a realtor?
Question for all: Where are the good neighborhoods (in your opinion)? We are in Grandville now but wouldn't mind moving in the city or staying in the close suburbs.
Awww, I have the same sickness right now! Headache, runny nose, throat on fire. It's not fun at all.
No, not a realtor. Just obsessed with real estate.
I'm casually looking for another rental right now.
I don't know much about the GR area. My sister lives in Hudsonville and she refuses to move until her son graduates high school. She loves it there.
ME TOO. Our house has zero character.
I really want our next house to be more interesting. I think I would like an older home. Older homes have so much more character. And I also tend to like the layouts more. I don't like the mega open floorplans of so many modern homes.
However, B is only interested in new(ish) homes.
This could be a major problem.
What's your definition of a good neighborhood? I personally like where I live (Wyoming). It's safe, established, and quiet. Chateau Estates is nice because it's a nice established neighborhood with nice houses without the HOA you have to deal with elsewhere. I don't live in that neighborhood just for the record. Haha. I wouldn't mind living slightly south though, like Byron Center. I would never live in a new develpment type neighborhood with a HOA. Too many stupid rules. Plus I like older homes with better 'bones'. I feel like a lot of newer construciton homes are made cheaply and sold for too much money. We have friends that live in a newer home (built in the last 10 years) and it's falling apart. Sure it's newer, in a nice neighborhood, but everything is the cheapest materials. For example their laminate wood floors are warped and seperating. And their slider isn't level, so they have to use a piece of wood to keep the draft from coming in. Horrible.
I think it kind of depends on what you consider "good". Good schools? Good shopping and restaurants? Walkable neighborhoods? Diversity? New homes? Older homes? Easy highway access? Low taxes?
I agree, the next house we live in will have more character.
I think you and B may be able to compromise. A lot of custom builders build new houses with a lot of character. They are pretty pricey though, but they hold value fairly well.
My sister had her last house in Hudsonville custom built and the woodwork inside was absolotely gorgeous.
