What are you reading?

What is everyone reading?

I just finished The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. I thought it was just okay. I think I drew it out too much and just lost interest. I'm starting The Carrie Diaries by Candace Bushnell now.

Re: What are you reading?

  • I am on book two of the Outlander series. I picked it up after so many raves here. And the first book was amazing!!!! It made me go WTF, OMG, Eeeekkkkk, among a whole host of other emotions/reactions. I am about 100 pages in to book two and am annoyed. Please tell me it gets better!
  • I'm about to start The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  I know, I'm a little late to the party, but I want to read it before seeing the movie.

  • I just started reading "The One you Love by Paul Pilkington (it was on the kindle free list). So far I'm really liking it. I just wish I could find more time to read.

  • I'm on a YA kick - I just finished Wither by Lauren Destefano and am moving onto Anna and the French Kiss after seeing numerous raves for it.
  • Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

I have an artistic eye but little ability. DH is encouraging me to tap into this side of myself do he bought me this book. It is not your typical "learn to draw book". It's more like a textbook that explains the science behind the exercises. My favorite exercise is "Upside Down Line Drawings". It's amazing what you can draw when you don't know what you are looking at!

  • I just finished, "The sharper the knife, the less you cry," about a woman's experience at Le Cordon Bleu. I loved it.

Next is the first of the Outlander series, it's on my iPad waiting for me.
  • I'm currently reading the 2nd book in a series - A Clash of Kings (A Game of Thrones was the first book). It's pretty good, but I'm not moving through it as fast as the first book. With a new baby, I haven't had a chance to read as much or as fast as I usually do!

  • I'm reading Gone With The Wind

I've never read it before, but I'm really liking it so far.

I read Sex and The City before (finally)

I need to start the book club book soon if I want to have read it before the book club in a few week.

  • Mary, IIRC, that book dragged a bit for me as I read it, but it was still worth it, especially since you need the storylines to continue on to the next book. Stick with it, I beg you!

Aaaaah, Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door were two of my favorite books this year! She's working on another book right now and I cannot WAIT for it to come out!

I'm not reading anything right now - I've been in a reading funk. I'm just calling myself dunzo for this year and trying to figure out what my goal is for 2012.

I tried reading that awhile ago when it was all the rage, but gave up.  I feel like I need to try again

The first 200 pages are dry and difficult to get through. It's all the financial background that you need to understand the foundation of the story, and it's booooooring.

But after that, it picks up SO much. If you can manage, I highly recommend getting back to it. Just push yourself through and it will be worth it.

The movie is absolutely incredible. I had some disturbing dreams after, but the storylines are anything but light and fluffy, and I knew that from the books.

Good to know about the first 200 pages!  I usually stop after 50 pages or so.  Guess my hope of starting and finishing this book over the weekend is kind-of shot since I have a super long list of events and things to do around the house.

I saw it last night and slept like crap afterwards!

Stick with it Kathryn....it's so worth it!

I just read Heaven is for Real and now I'm starting Catching Fire.

  • I'm actively reading City of Thieves by David Benioff (excellent) and One Thousand White Women - the Journals of May Dodd (can't remember the author.)

Ive been a reading slacker for the past few months so I'm trying to get back into the swing of it.

  • I'm about halfway through "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close".  I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.  It's told from so many points of view and the time periods jump all over.  It's hard to follow, but the movie looks SO good, so I want to stick with it.
