Crochet pattern clarification
Man, I've had a lot of questions recently. Sorry!
I'm making a hanging nest/stork pouch photo prop. I'm having problem with row 8. It says to repeat previous row but there are only enough chain spaces to dc 5 times, not 6. It decreases a space each time I do a row... unless I make the last dc elsewhere. Because of this, I can't do row 12 because the spaces get fewer and fewer. What am I doing wrong?
Round 6: sl st into 1st ch 1 sp. Ch 4 (Dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 14 times. Join to 3rd ch of ?beg ch
(start working in rows)
Row 7: sl st in 1st ch 1 sp. Ch 4. (dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 6 times. Turn.
Row 8: rep row 7
Row 9: sl st in 1st ch 1 sp. Ch 4. (dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 5 times. turn
Row 10: rep row 9
Row 11: sl st in 1st ch 1 sp. Ch 4. (dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) 4 times. Turn
Row 12: rep row 11 until desired hanging length.
Re: Crochet pattern clarification
I am not seeing how there is a decrease in each row? There are 15 DC chain 1 in Row 6, then row 7 you put the first sl st in the first ch 1, then create 7 dc ch 1. The next you will put the sl st in the first c1 1 then do it 7 times again. Row 9 will decrease 1, then do row 10 the same as row 9, then row 11 will decrease 1, then row 12 will be the same as 11.
The chain 4 at the start should be one DC chain 1, then you do 14 more for row 6.
Thanks so much for responding. There aren't any decreases in the pattern. In row 6 I do the ch 4 and 6 dc but that makes six spaces, not 7.
I_I_I_I_I_I_I is what mine ends up looking like so there isn't a 7th space to put the last dc on the next row (row 7).
I got it now! I wonder if for that row you are to join like in the previous round, but not go in a round? The last ch 1 is getting lost somewhere in that row...very weird!
That's what I was thinking but it leaves a very large gap. Instead of slip stitching into the first stitch, I just did the chain 4 and then dc into the first space, which turns out so so. I contacted the pattern writer who will hopefully help me out. It's her first pattern that she's written so maybe there's something that she forgot.
Thanks.
