The Hudson River's Pollution

To whom this may concern,

My name is Juliann, and I am working towards my Girl Scout Silver Award. In order to achieve it, I have to write about an issue in our community. As a result, I'm writing about the Hudson River and its pollution. According to my research, the Hudson River is the thirty-third most polluted river in the United States. In the 1970's, factories near the water dumped contaminents such as PCB's and DDT into the water. This careless act affected many animals, both living in the river and around the river. The chemicals are eaten by the fish, and when we eat the fish, it affects the nervous system, the reproductive system, and many other body systems.

Though we've made a lot of progress over the past 30 years, it's still affecting our community. All I am trying to do is spread awareness about this beautiful lake. The Hudson River Valley just wouldn't be the same without its river. So next time you want to pollute our great water, think twice.

Sincerely, Juliann N.
